After the Chinese Spring Festival, Oppo is set to unveil the Oppo Find N5 foldable smartphone and the Oppo Watch X2 in February. Following that, in March, the company is likely to introduce the Find X8 Ultra and Find X8 Mini. There are rumors indicating that the Ultra model will feature the same display as the OnePlus 13. However, a recent leak from the trustworthy leaker Digital Chat Station suggests that it will have a fully flat display rather than the micro-quad-curved screen found on the OP13. This leak also provides insights into the display design of the upcoming Find X9 series.
New Display Designs for the Find X9 Series
According to the leaker, while the prototype of the Find X8 Ultra had a micro-quad curved screen, the final version is expected to come with a fully flat screen that supports 2K resolution. This change in display style, moving from a micro-quad curved screen to a completely flat one, is anticipated to carry over to future flagship devices expected by the end of 2025.
Competing with Apple
The leak hints that Oppo’s strategy is to directly take on Apple by including completely flat displays with ultra-thin bezels in its upcoming camera-centered flagship phones, likely in the Oppo Find X9 series. The Find X9 models are said to come with 6.8-inch OLED panels, where the standard version might support a 1.5K resolution, while the Ultra model could deliver a 2K resolution. Both versions are expected to utilize an 8T LTPO panel that features eye-care technology and a high-brightness DC dimming function, similar to what Apple offers.
Future Flagship Phones
The tipster has previously noted that the first batch of flagship smartphones expected to be launched in China by the end of this year, will be powered by Dimensity 9500 and Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (SM8850) chipsets, featuring flat display panels. This indicates that flagship models after the Find X9 series are likely to follow the trend of adopting completely flat displays.
It’s still unclear if other flagship smartphones, like the Vivo X300 series, Realme GT 8 Pro, and OnePlus 14, which are expected to launch by the end of 2025, will also feature flat displays.
