Roblox Payouts to Game Creators Exceed $1 Billion in Rewards

    Key Takeaways

    1. Roblox paid out $1 billion to developers in Q3 2025, up from $923 million the previous year, with an 8.5% increase in payouts for creators.
    2. The top 1,000 creators earned an average of $1.1 million, a 40% increase from last year, contributing to Roblox’s $1.4 billion revenue for the quarter, a 48% year-on-year growth.
    3. The Developer Exchange (DevEx) Program allows creators to convert Robux into cash, requiring at least 30,000 Robux, a verified email, and good standing in the community.
    4. Concerns over children’s safety on the platform are rising, prompting Roblox to enhance safety measures and establish a Parents and Caregiver Council.
    5. Roblox faces increased scrutiny and legal action from states like Texas, Kentucky, and Louisiana for allegedly failing to address safety risks for children.

Roblox has recently unveiled its earnings report for Q3 2025, revealing that it has disbursed a remarkable $1 billion to its game developers via the Developer Exchange program. This marks a significant increase from the $923 million paid out last year. Additionally, the company previously announced an 8.5% rise in the payout for creators, which means they will receive more cash when converting earned Robux.

    Creator Earnings Surge

The report also highlighted that the top 1,000 creators on the platform earned an average of $1.1 million, reflecting a 40% increase compared to the previous year. This figure aligns with Roblox’s impressive revenue of $1.4 billion for the quarter, which is up 48% year-on-year, showcasing the platform’s robust growth in monetization.

    DevEx Program Requirements

Creators can utilize the “DevEx Program” to convert their Robux into actual cash; however, there are strict requirements to qualify: “While any creator can use Roblox Studio to learn to code, create experiences or items to enjoy with their friends, and even earn some Robux, only successful creators will be able to meet the high requirements (described below) to earn money through DevEx.”

To be eligible for this program, creators need to accumulate at least 30,000 Robux in their accounts, possess a verified email address, and maintain a good standing within the community. The full list of requirements and the procedure can be located here.

    Concerns Over Children’s Safety

This growth is impressive, especially considering the rising worries surrounding online safety for children. A “Deeply disturbing” report has emerged regarding the risks children face while playing Roblox, following complaints from parents about changes in their children’s behavior after using the popular app. Roblox acknowledges that kids may encounter inappropriate content but is actively working to eliminate “bad actors.”

The company expressed that it “deeply sympathised” with those impacted by harmful content, stating, “tens of millions of people have a positive, enriching and safe experience on Roblox every day.” They are also expanding their safety measures by establishing a Parents and Caregiver Council. “Similar to our Teen Council, Parent Council participants will collaborate with Roblox’s internal teams to provide perspectives on platform features, policies, and resources,” they noted.

    Ongoing Scrutiny

However, the measures taken may not be sufficient to counteract the growing criticism regarding its perceived lack of concern for the issue, as well as the increasing scrutiny from government and state-level watchdogs. According to Reuters, Texas has initiated a lawsuit against Roblox for allegedly hiding safety risks from parents, making it the third significant state following Kentucky and Louisiana to take legal action.
