OnePlus is preparing to launch its upcoming flagship phone, the OnePlus 13, later this month. Although the company hasn’t officially began its marketing campaign for the device, various leaks and speculations have provided a wealth of information.

Recently, well-known Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station posted the first design render of the OnePlus 13. The image was later removed from the post, which is a usual tactic by DCS for exclusive leaks, but we were able to capture the image before it was taken down.

Insights into the Rear Design

From the render, it’s clear that the phone retains the familiar circular camera module positioned on the left side. However, the previous grille extending from the camera to the edge has been replaced with a narrow strip connecting to the right frame, just beneath the Hasselblad logo.

At a quick glance, the design doesn’t appear to introduce any groundbreaking changes, yet OnePlus has made some subtle modifications to enhance it. Compared to earlier models, this version seems to have a more polished look.

Real-Life Comparisons

We also have a real-world image of the supposed OnePlus 13 in white, next to the Oppo Find X8. While we can’t verify if this is indeed the OnePlus 13 until the brand officially announces it, both the render and the actual image align with what we’ve previously observed in Qualcomm’s earlier video.

What we do know for sure is that the device will feature a BOE X2 display, which is said to provide improved brightness, enhanced outdoor visibility, and better eye protection. It’s highly likely that the phone will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.

Expected Features and Specs

Additionally, according to various leaks, the OnePlus 13 is anticipated to include a slightly curved 2K LTPO display, a triple rear camera system with three 50MP lenses, and support for 50W magnetic wireless charging.

The phone is expected to house a dual-cell 5840mAh battery, allowing for 100W SUPERVOOC fast charging as well as magnetic wireless charging capabilities.

OnePlus is set to unveil the OnePlus 13 during a screen launch event on October 15, partnering with BOE, a Chinese display manufacturer. This conference will showcase a novel display that will be featured on the OP13. A promotional poster has been shared by the company, giving hints about the OP13’s screen. Furthermore, tech blogger Cai Zuxuan, who is reportedly connected to OnePlus, mentioned that the advanced display along with a new processor will likely lead to an increase in price.

The OnePlus 13 boasts a DisplayMate A++ certified display. The brand states that its second-generation 2K Oriental Screen, also known as the BOE X2 display, has achieved the world’s first DisplayMate A++ certification, breaking 21 display records. The device is expected to come with a 6.82-inch BOE X2 8T LTPO panel featuring a micro-quad-curved design and ultra-thin bezels. It will provide a resolution of 3168 x 1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Additionally, this model will be OnePlus’ first to include an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint scanner. The Oppo Find X8 Ultra, anticipated to launch in January 2025, will also utilize this new display. More details regarding the OnePlus 13 and its screen will likely emerge during the upcoming event in China.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset and Pricing Insights

Another significant feature of the OnePlus 13 is that it will be among the initial phones to incorporate Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. As noted earlier, the addition of these high-end components indicates that the price will be higher compared to the OnePlus 12, which launched at 4,299 Yuan for the base variant of 12GB+256GB.

When questioned by a netizen about the potential price of the OnePlus 13, particularly if the 16GB+512GB model might exceed 5,000 Yuan, Cai Zuxuan indicated that due to the premium chip and display, the mid-range version (16GB+512GB) will likely be priced above 5,200 Yuan ($735). The equivalent variant of the OnePlus 12 debuted at 4,799 Yuan ($680), suggesting the OnePlus 13 could see a price increase of around 500 Yuan (~$70) compared to its predecessor.

Regarding other specifications, leaks imply that the OnePlus 13 may support up to 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage, alongside a robust 6,000mAh battery equipped with 100W wired and 50W magnetic wireless charging capabilities. The device will feature three rear cameras: a main 50-megapixel LYT-808 camera, a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 camera, and a LYT600 3x periscope telephoto lens. Additional functionalities will include single-point ultrasonic fingerprint unlocking, an IR blaster, and IP68/69 dust and water resistance.
