AYN Odin2 Portal: New OLED Gaming Handheld with 120Hz Display

AYN Technologies has launched the Odin2 Portal, which is now available for backing on Indiegogo. This new device marks the third entry in the Odin2 lineup, following the original Odin2 (currently priced at $449 on Amazon) and the Odin2 Mini. Essentially, the Odin2 Portal is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor found in its predecessors.

    Enhanced Performance Features

One notable upgrade with the Odin2 Portal is its ability to run at a higher 27 W TDP. Additionally, this latest gaming handheld is fitted with an 8,000 mAh battery, similar to the Odin2, unlike the smaller 5,000 mAh battery seen in the Odin2 Mini. Alongside this, AYN has chosen to include a stunning 7-inch OLED screen that delivers a resolution of 1080p at 120 Hz, boasting a peak brightness of 800 nits.

    Pricing and Storage Options

At present, the Odin2 Portal is offered starting at $299 for the model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. There are also options to upgrade to 12 GB of RAM with 512 GB of storage for $379, or 16 GB of RAM and a massive 1 TB of storage for $479. It’s important to keep in mind that prices will eventually increase by $20 to $30 after the Super Early Bird offer ends. All orders placed on Indiegogo are expected to begin shipping in December 2024.

AYN Odin2 Portal OLED Handheld: Pricing and Release Date Announced

AYN Technologies has made a significant move by announcing the prices for the Odin2 Portal, shortly after detailing its complete specifications for the new gaming handheld. As expected, the company will present the Odin2 Portal in three different price options, similar to how they did with the Odin2 (currently priced at $449 on Amazon). It’s important to highlight that two of these options will only be available while the Odin2 Portal is being sold through Indiegogo, not in their retail shop.

    Pricing Details

Additionally, it is unclear how many units AYN Technologies will maintain at the lowest price for the Odin2 Portal. The starting price for the Base version, which comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, will be $299. This price is only available under AYN Technologies’ ‘Super Early Bird’ pricing tier.

    Future Price Changes

In contrast, this same configuration will eventually cost $349 once sold directly by AYN Technologies. As per the information released thus far, this $50 increase will apply to all variants of the Odin2 Portal. Currently, AYN Technologies plans to launch the device on Indiegogo on October 23 at 12:00 UTC. To sum up, the handheld will feature a 7-inch OLED display, a 6,600 mAh battery, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with active cooling. For reference, the pricing tiers from AYN Technologies will include:

AYN Odin2 Portal: Specs Revealed for High-End Android Handheld

AYN Technologies is gearing up to launch the Odin2 Portal. To give you some background, the company started hinting at this device just last week, presenting it as a more substantial and luxurious choice compared to its current Odin2 model (priced at $449 on Amazon) and the Odin2 Mini that was introduced earlier this year. While the price for the Portal hasn’t been disclosed yet, AYN Technologies has shared the complete specifications for the device through a recent post on their Discord channel.

    Different Configurations

Like the previous iterations of the Odin series, AYN Technologies will provide the Odin2 Portal in three different versions: Base, Pro, and Max. These versions will vary based on their RAM and storage capacities. Specifically, the device will be available in the following configurations:

Every unit will operate on Android 13, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and equipped with a 6,600 mAh battery. Additionally, the dimensions of the Odin2 Portal will be 257 x 98.6 x 16 mm and it will have a weight of 415 g, no matter if you choose the Base, Pro, or Max configuration.

    Active Cooling Feature

Moreover, AYN Technologies has added a basic active cooling system to maintain the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s performance while it runs at a peak 27 W TDP. As of now, the Odin2 Portal is anticipated to be available for order later in the week. Therefore, we expect AYN Technologies to reveal more details about the Odin2 Portal in the next day or two.
