Nubia Flip II Specs and Design Leaked in Certification Listings

ZTE is said to be developing a new version of its first foldable smartphone, the Nubia Flip 5G, which was released earlier this year. This upcoming device, likely named the Nubia Flip II, was listed in the IMEI database in August and has more recently been certified by the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

    New Specs and Design Revealed

The MIIT certification sheds light on the specifications and design of the Nubia Flip II, helping us understand what features we can look forward to in this new foldable phone. According to the certification, the Nubia Flip II will include a 4,225 mAh battery, which is a small drop from the 4,310 mAh battery found in its predecessor. It will operate on Android 14 and support multiple connectivity options like 5G NR NSA/NR, TD-LTE, LTE FDD, and have dual-SIM dual-standby mode along with Bluetooth, GPS, AGPS, and GLONASS navigation.

    Enhanced Outer Display

One of the key improvements in the Nubia Flip II is its larger outer display. This new screen has changed from a circular format in the original model to a more rectangular shape that expands vertically. This redesign is likely to enhance usability for quick notifications and interactions, which is a much-appreciated update. The secondary display will be 3 inches and will feature an AMOLED panel with a resolution of 422 x 682 pixels.

    Internal Features and Camera Layout

Inside, the Nubia Flip II will boast a 6.85-inch AMOLED main display, offering a high resolution of 1,188 x 2,970 pixels. The camera layout has also been revamped; rather than the circular arrangement around the secondary screen seen in the first generation, the Nubia Flip II will have two cameras and an LED flash positioned vertically next to the cover screen. Additionally, the phone’s frame now has a more rounded design, with the volume buttons situated on the right side. The power button will also function as a fingerprint scanner for enhanced security.

Looking Back at the Original Model

The Nubia Flip 5G, which launched earlier in 2024, featured a 6.9-inch main display with FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 1.43-inch circular OLED secondary display. It was powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, could have up to 12 GB of RAM, and offered 512 GB of internal storage. The device also included a dual-camera system with a 50 MP main sensor, stereo speakers, and supported 33W fast charging.

While the official launch date for the Nubia Flip II hasn’t been announced yet, it’s anticipated to be released in the first quarter of 2025, following the February launch of the original Nubia Flip.

ZTE is intensifying its efforts in the foldable smartphone industry, with the development of the Nubia Flip II underway. Recently, Gizmochina identified this upcoming foldable smartphone in the IMEI database.

Upcoming Nubia Flip II: What Can We Expect?

As many smartphone companies pivot towards foldable devices, ZTE is no exception. Having introduced its first foldable phone, the Nubia Flip 5G, in February 2024, ZTE is now focusing on its successor, the Nubia Flip II. While the specifics of this new device remain undisclosed, its appearance in the IMEI database confirms its existence.

The Nubia Flip II, identified by the model number NX732J, currently lacks detailed information beyond this identifier. It is anticipated to be an upgraded model of the Nubia Flip 5G. To gain insight into what the Nubia Flip II might offer, let’s revisit the specifications of its predecessor, the Nubia Flip 5G.

Specifications of the Nubia Flip 5G

The Nubia Flip 5G features a prominent camera island on the back. This island houses a circular secondary screen, which is a 1.43-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. This additional screen enables users to carry out simple tasks without unfolding the device. The front boasts a 6.9-inch FHD+ display, an AMOLED main screen that supports 2160Hz PWM dimming, a 120Hz refresh rate, and the full DCI-P3 color spectrum.

Under the hood, this foldable phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. It offers up to 12GB of RAM and storage capacities reaching 512GB. The battery of the Nubia Flip 5G has a capacity of 4310 mAh, equipped with a 33W fast charging capability, achieving a full charge in 73 minutes. Additionally, the device includes NFC technology.

Anticipated Launch of Nubia Flip II

ZTE has yet to announce the official release date for the Nubia Flip II. Given that the Nubia Flip 5G was launched in February 2024, it’s plausible that the Nubia Flip II could be unveiled in February 2025. However, this is purely speculative, and more concrete information is expected to surface as we approach the potential launch date.
