Motorola has recently added a new device to its budget-friendly G-series, named the Moto G96 5G, in India last week. The company has now shared the pricing and availability information for this smartphone. It comes in four Pantone-validated color options: Greener Pastures, Cattleya Orchid, Ashleigh Blue, and Dresden Blue. The starting price for the Moto G96 5G is INR 17,999 ($210) for the base model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The higher-end model, which has 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, is priced at INR 19,999 ($233). Open sales are set to begin on July 16 through Motorola’s official website and other authorized sellers.

    Upgrades from Previous Model

The Moto G96 5G is a direct upgrade to the Moto G85 5G, which was released last year (currently priced at $213 on Amazon). This latest model boasts significant improvements over its predecessor in terms of its processor, battery capacity, and display features.

    Enhanced Display Features

Starting with the display, the Motorola G96 5G keeps the same size of 6.67 inches with a curved pOLED screen that has a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. However, the standout feature is the new 144 Hz refresh rate, an upgrade from the previous model’s 120 Hz. The display is rated for a peak brightness of 1600 nits and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, which helps guard against accidental drops and scratches.

    Powerful Performance

Under the hood, the Moto G96 5G runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, which is an upgrade from the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 used in the G85. It comes with 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and offers either 128 or 256 GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, there is no option to expand the storage. On the software front, it runs Android 15, and Motorola has committed to providing three major Android updates (to Android 16, 17, and 18) along with four years of security patches until 2029.

Impressive Battery Life and Camera Setup

The smartphone features a larger battery compared to its predecessors. Motorola has equipped the G96 with a 5,500 mAh battery that supports 33 W wired charging. For photography enthusiasts, it includes a dual rear camera setup, featuring a 50 MP OIS-enabled Sony Lytia LYT-700C primary sensor and an 8 MP ultrawide lens. On the front, there’s a 32 MP camera for selfies and video calls.

Motorola’s latest offering seems to cater to the needs of budget-conscious consumers while providing impressive specifications and features.

  • Motorola Razr 60 Ultra Review: Unleashing Maximum Power

Motorola Razr 60 Ultra Review: Unleashing Maximum Power

    Key Takeaways

    1. Design and Materials: The Motorola Razr 60 Ultra offers a choice of Alcantara, wood-inspired materials, and a smooth pink finish, with a strengthened hinge for improved durability.

    2. Waterproofing: The phone is fully waterproof for shallow swimming but lacks full dust protection, particularly around the folding mechanism.

    3. Battery and Charging: It features a larger battery providing over 15 hours of life, with improved charging capabilities of 68 watts wired and 30 watts wirelessly.

    4. Processor Upgrade: The Razr 60 Ultra uses the full Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, enhancing performance compared to its predecessor.

    5. Performance Issues: The phone can overheat during intensive tasks, leading to shut-offs and discomfort when held, making it less suitable for demanding applications.

Users who like well-made smartphones will find the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra appealing. The back of the phone features either Alcantara or a wood-inspired material, and there’s also a smooth pink option. The hinge has been strengthened, so users can trust its durability. However, there haven’t been any modifications to the display crease; it’s still noticeable, but not too obvious.

    Durability and Water Resistance

The Razr 60 Ultra is fully waterproof, allowing users to even take it for a swim in shallow waters. However, it does not guarantee total protection against dust; the folding mechanism is particularly vulnerable in this aspect.

    Battery and Charging Features

The battery is now larger and a tad heavier than its predecessor, providing over 15 hours of life in our Wi-Fi test. Charging has also improved: it can go up to 68 watts with a cable and 30 watts wirelessly. Another standout feature is the choice of processor; unlike last year’s model, which had a trimmed-down version of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, this year’s version comes with the full Snapdragon 8 Elite. This upgrade places the Razr 60 Ultra at the forefront of high-performance flip smartphones.

    Performance Limitations

Nevertheless, this processor upgrade has its downsides, as the Razr lacks sufficient surface area for proper cooling of the SoC. This quickly shows up during more intensive tasks; in our benchmark tests, the Razr 60 Ultra consistently showed overheating alerts, leading to the termination of tests. There are also times when the smartphone may shut off due to excessive heat. Furthermore, holding the Razr 60 Ultra during high-demand situations can become uncomfortable, with the frame and casing reaching temperatures of 60°C.

For those who don’t usually use demanding applications on their phones and are just looking for a stylish flip phone with excellent battery life, the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra is a solid option.

Moto G96 Leak: Specs, Design, and Vegan Leather Colors Revealed

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Moto G96 is in development alongside the Moto G86, expected for release in June, with design similarities to the Moto G85.
    2. It will feature a curved display with a hole-punch front camera and a dual rear camera setup.
    3. Color options will include Cattleya Orchid, Dresden Blue, Greener Pastures, and Ashleigh Blue, all made with vegan leather.
    4. Internal specs suggest a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage, and a 5,500 mAh battery, with a 50-megapixel main camera and a 32-megapixel front camera.
    5. The Moto G96 is likely targeted for markets outside the US, as most Motorola G series phones are not officially sold there.

Another Motorola G series smartphone, the G96, appears to be in development alongside the Moto G86 anticipated for June. Although no formal details have been released about either phone, a recent leak provides insights into what we might see from this new flagship Moto G series device. Reports suggest it will be available in four color choices, all crafted from vegan leather, and its design seems to resemble that of the Moto G85 (buy international version on Amazon), rather than the expected Moto G86.

    Design and Features

The leak, shared by Android Headlines, includes images of the rumored Moto G96, showcasing its design and color variety. It looks like it features a curved display with a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera. The Moto G96 is expected to have a dual rear camera arrangement. It’s worth noting that both the Moto G95 and G85 also sported curved displays, but recent rumors about the Moto G86 indicate it will have a flat screen, leading to a more angular appearance.

    Color Options

Regarding color selections, the report mentions Cattleya Orchid (lavender), Dresden Blue, Greener Pastures, and Ashleigh Blue. These options will utilize vegan leather for an intriguing aesthetic and tactile experience. The display on the Moto G96 is anticipated to be a 6.67-inch pOLED curved panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color support, and Water Touch 2.0 technology included.

    Internal Specifications

The leak also reveals some internal specs, suggesting the Moto G96 5G will be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC, along with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. A 5,500 mAh battery will support these features. It’s interesting to note that the newer Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 was recently unveiled, raising questions about why the Moto G96 is expected to use an older processor. In comparison, the Moto G95 is equipped with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, meaning the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 will still provide a significant upgrade.

Moreover, the Moto G96 is rumored to come with a 50-megapixel Sony LUTIS 700C main sensor and an 8-megapixel secondary macro camera. The front may house a 32-megapixel camera for selfies.

    Market Availability

Typically, Motorola’s G series numbered phones are designed for markets outside the United States and are not officially sold in the US. Consequently, it seems unlikely that the Moto G96 5G will be launched for American consumers. However, it is noteworthy that Motorola began offering the Moto G100 in the US in 2021 after its earlier release in Europe and Latin America earlier that year.
