The Moto G Power series has been a leader in the budget smartphone market, offering great value for its price. The Moto G Power (2024) was a hit, and now the 2025 version has arrived with some appealing enhancements.
Design Changes
The rear camera design has been updated to occupy more space, although it keeps the same camera setup—two sensors on the back and one on the front. The Moto G Power (2025) closely resembles the Edge 50 models, giving it a more upscale appearance, making it look less like a budget phone.
Motorola has introduced a new Leaf Green color in addition to the traditional Slate Gray. While personal taste varies, I find this new shade much more attractive than the usual whites, blacks, and silvers offered by competitors.
Size and Build
The 2025 model is slightly smaller by 0.6mm and a bit thicker by 0.2mm, with a width increase of 0.5mm. If you’re moving from the 2024 version, these small changes are unlikely to be noticeable. Most of the specifications remain similar, except for enhanced durability.

A significant new feature is the inclusion of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for screen protection, which the previous model did not have. Motorola has clearly improved both protection and durability, which were previously lacking.
On the performance side, the 2025 version uses a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, while the 2024 model has a slightly more powerful Dimensity 7020 chip. However, the performance difference is negligible, ensuring a smooth experience for everyday activities like texting, browsing, or social media.
The Moto G Power (2025) still features 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, with a dedicated slot for a microSD card for more space.
Camera Features
Motorola claims to have enhanced camera performance, but the hardware remains unchanged from the 2024 model, featuring a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera. The improvements come mainly from software updates powered by AI, offering features like Shot Optimization, Google Lens integration, Google Photos auto enhancement, and Auto Night Vision. The front camera continues to be 16MP.
One downside of the Moto G Power (2025) is its software support. Last year, the brand promised five Android updates for some models, but the Moto G Power is limited to just two OS updates and three years of bi-monthly security patches. Fortunately, it launches with Android 15 pre-installed.

The battery capacity remains at 5,000mAh, supporting 30W wired charging. The device also includes 15W wireless charging, a feature that’s often missing in budget options. The 2025 model supports Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 5, and NFC, similar to the 2024 version.

The Moto G Power (2025) presents a more premium look, resembling the Edge 50, particularly with the vibrant Leaf Green color that enhances its appeal as a budget-friendly smartphone.
