Motorola Moto G Power 2025: Bigger Display, Android 15, Slower Chip

Motorola has started its 2025 smartphone collection with the introduction of the Moto G Power (2025). This mid-range device features a larger display and improved protection but has a less powerful processor compared to the Moto G Power 5G (2024) model.

    Design and Display Updates

The design of the phone has been slightly altered, and the 5G label has been removed from its title. The Moto G Power (2025) showcases a 6.8-inch 120Hz IPS LCD display that boasts a 19:9 aspect ratio, a resolution of 2388 x 1080, and is safeguarded by Gorilla Glass 5. This new display is marginally bigger than the 6.7-inch screen found on the 2024 version.

    Performance and Storage

In terms of specifications, the Moto G Power (2025) comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage that can be expanded. However, there’s a noticeable downgrade in the processor, switching from the Dimensity 7020 to the Dimensity 6300. The Dimensity 7020 features two Cortex-A78 cores at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz, while the Dimensity 6300 has two Arm Cortex-A76 cores at 2.4GHz and six Arm Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz.

    Camera Features and Other Specs

For photography, the Moto G Power (2025) is equipped with a 16MP front camera, a 50MP main rear camera with optical image stabilization, and an 8MP ultrawide camera capable of macro shots. It includes a fingerprint reader, Face Unlock functionality, and ThinkShield security. Moreover, it has a headphone jack, stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, and supports dual SIM (nano+eSIM).

    Durability and Availability

Motorola has enhanced the durability of the Moto G Power (2025). Along with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, it also holds an IP69 rating and is certified under MIL-STD 810H. This device comes in two colors, each featuring a vegan leather finish.

The Moto G Power (2025) runs on Android 15, although Motorola has not disclosed details about the number of OS updates or security updates it will receive. Like its predecessor, it retains a 5,000mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. A charger will be included in the box for specific markets.

    Pricing and Launch Dates

Motorola has set the price for the Moto G Power (2025) at $299.99. It will be available for purchase unlocked starting February 6 on Motorola’s website, as well as on Amazon and BestBuy. Carriers will also offer the phone in the upcoming months. Canadians will have to wait until May 2 to purchase the device.

The Moto G Power 2024 remains available on Amazon for $299.99, the same price as its original launch. It is also sold at the same price on Motorola’s website, where customers receive free Moto Buds+ earbuds and a complimentary Moto Tag.

Moto G Power 2025: Affordable Toughness in Budget Smartphones

Motorola has kicked off 2025 with the introduction of two new budget smartphones, the Moto G Power 2025 and the Moto G 2025. These models are packed with great features that cater to users looking for affordability without sacrificing quality. Let’s dive into the specs of these devices.

    Device Specifications

The Moto G Power 2025 boasts a 6.8-inch FHD+ LCD display, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, all protected by Gorilla Glass 5 to ensure durability and vibrant visuals. On the other hand, the Moto G 2025 comes with a slightly smaller 6.7-inch FHD+ LCD, offering the same refresh rate and brightness, but it utilizes Gorilla Glass 3 for protection.

Both smartphones are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. The Moto G Power comes with 8GB of RAM, while the Moto G provides options of 4GB or 6GB. Both run on Android 15, which includes features such as audio sharing, better accessibility, and enhanced security settings.

    Camera and Battery Features

The Moto G Power 2025 is equipped with a triple-camera setup that includes a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 16MP selfie camera, enhanced by OIS and Quad Pixel technology for clearer images. In contrast, the Moto G 2025 features a 50MP main sensor along with a 2MP macro lens and a 16MP selfie camera, providing good photography capabilities considering its price.

Both smartphones are fitted with a 5000mAh battery. The Moto G Power 2025 supports 30W TurboPower wired charging and 15W wireless charging, whereas the Moto G 2025 comes with only 30W wired charging.

    Durability and Audio Quality

One of the highlights of the Moto G Power 2025 is its MIL-STD-810H certification and IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance, making it one of the most resilient budget phones available. It can handle extreme conditions like falls, humidity, and water immersion, which is quite impressive for its price range.

The Moto G 2025, while not as rugged, still offers IP52 water resistance and features a vegan leather back similar to its counterpart. Both phones support Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, and Bass Boost technology for an immersive audio experience.

    Pricing and Availability

The Moto G 2025 will be hitting the market on January 30, 2025, priced at $199.99. It will be available in two colors: Forest Gray and Sapphire Blue. Meanwhile, the Moto G Power 2025 is set to launch on February 6, 2025, at a price of $299.99, and will come in Slate Gray and Leaf Green.
