Introducing Minisforum S100 Mini PC with Intel N100 SoC

Minisforum recently introduced the S100 mini PC, following its debut at CES 2024. This compact device, the Minisforum S100, is a miniature PC that eliminates the need for a power plug during recharging. It runs on the Alder Lake-N CPU, known as the N100, and boasts a pocket-sized form factor. Notably, the new Minisforum S100 mini PC supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), catering to applications in digital signage, small workspaces, and educational environments that don’t demand high computational power.

    Specifications and Design

The Minisforum S100 adds to the company’s lineup of feature-rich devices, currently being introduced at a discounted promotional rate. Powered by the Intel N100 processor, this lightweight and compact mini PC features a quad-core configuration without Hyper Threading. Paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 memory, the 6W Intel N100 lacks a storage drive due to its diminutive size, offering only 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage.

    Cooling System and Connectivity

Despite its small dimensions, the Minisforum S100 includes an integrated cooling system, incorporating a small fan connected to a heatsink. Operating at 24dB during idle periods and 43dB under full load, this mini PC doesn’t necessitate a separate power cable for functioning. Besides its PoE support, the S100 sports a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port for powering the device, along with two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and an HDMI 2.0 interface.

    Pricing and Availability

Featuring Bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6 connectivity, the S100 facilitates dual 4K displays and comes pre-installed with the Windows 11 operating system. The launch price for the Minisforum S100 stands at $189 and is conveniently obtainable through the Minisforum website.

    The MINISFORUM S100-N100: A Pocket-Sized Compact PC

The MINISFORUM S100-N100 is the latest addition to the world of mini-PCs. Unveiled during CES 2024, this compact PC packs a punch with its Intel N100 Alder Lake-N processor. Equipped with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage, the S100-N100 offers impressive performance in a petite package.

    A Powerful Combination

One of the standout features of the MINISFORUM S100-N100 is its support for 2.5GbE Ethernet. This ensures a high-speed internet connection, perfect for tasks that require fast and reliable connectivity. Additionally, the S100-N100 also supports Power over Ethernet (PoW), allowing users to enjoy power delivery through a single cable.

    Compact Design, Big Capabilities

Despite its small size, the MINISFORUM S100-N100 does not compromise on functionality. It features WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 support, ensuring seamless wireless connectivity. The inclusion of a USB 3.1 Type-C port allows for versatile power and data usage. Moreover, the S100-N100 boasts two USB 3.1 Type-A ports and an HDMI interface, providing convenient connectivity options.

    A PC Stick Alternative

The MINISFORUM S100-N100 can be seen as a PC stick due to its compact form factor. However, unlike traditional PC sticks, it features a conventional HDMI port. This means that users will need an HDMI cable to connect the device to a TV or monitor. In contrast, typical PC-on-a-stick systems incorporate an HDMI connector for direct plugging into a display.

    Pricing and Availability

At this time, MINISFORUM has not disclosed the pricing details for the S100-N100 compact PC. Additionally, the availability of the product in the international market remains uncertain. However, it is expected that this new PC will be released later this year, offering customers a powerful and portable computing solution.

In addition to the MINISFORUM S100-N100, the company also showcased other products during CES 2024, such as the UH185 Ultra mini PC. This particular model features a Core Ultra CPU and a touch-enabled display at the front, further expanding MINISFORUM’s range of compact computing options.
