Infinix Hot 50 Pro Plus: Ultra-Slim Android Phone with New Processor

Infinix’ Hot 50 Pro Plus, sometimes called Pro+, is expected to be released with a 5,000mAh battery, similar to many other Android phones currently available. However, it’s worth noting that no other phone has managed to come out at just 6.8 millimeters (mm) high in several years.

    Design Features

The Pro+ model shifts away from the flat design of the newer Hot 50, opting instead for a display that features a (very) curved edge, which contributes to its new SlimEdge look. It boasts a 6.78-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED screen, which is a notable highlight of the device.

    Performance Specs

Moreover, this smartphone is rumored to operate on MediaTek’s Helio G100 SoC, which only supports 4G/LTE connectivity. In contrast, many other phones that claim to have Pro+ capabilities often come equipped with 5G technology.

    Competitive Landscape

This anticipated flagship from the Hot series could pose a significant challenge to the speculated Samsung Galaxy A16, which is set to replace the 8.4mm A15.

Meanwhile, the latest leaks about the “50 Pro+” suggest that pre-orders might kick off today (October 7, 2024) in India, the Philippines, or possibly both, though there hasn’t been any official announcement from Infinix in India or the Philippines regarding this matter yet.

  • Infinix Hot 50 Pro Plus: Slimmest Phone in 5 Years Revealed

Infinix Hot 50 Pro Plus: Slimmest Phone in 5 Years Revealed

An intriguing rumor circulated last month suggesting that Infinix was developing the slimmest phone in the world. It turns out, there’s some validity to this claim.

    Teasing the Thinnest Smartphone

The company has begun to promote the Infinix Hot 50 Pro Plus in the Philippines. While not many details are available yet, it’s evident that this smartphone will be one of the thinnest we’ve seen in quite a while.

    Not Quite the Thinnest

That said, it won’t hold the title of the world’s thinnest phone. According to the official teaser, the device measures 6.8mm thick—very sleek, but still not as slender as the 2014 Vivo X5 Max, which had an impressive 4.75mm thickness. Nonetheless, the Infinix Hot 50 Pro Plus will be the most slender non-foldable smartphone since the Tecno Camon 11 series that launched back in 2018.

Specifications of Infinix Hot 50 Pro Plus

Regarding other specifications, the details lean more towards the mid-range. The smartphone will be equipped with a MediaTek Helio G100 processor, which Infinix claims will provide "5-year performance fluency" due to TUV certification.

Though it’s not the most advanced chip available, it should manage daily tasks just fine. The Helio G100 will work alongside 8GB of RAM and a solid 256GB of storage capacity.

On the front side, there’s an AMOLED screen that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The teaser also indicates that an in-display fingerprint scanner will be included for user ease. Beyond these specifications, further information on the Infinix Hot 50 Pro Plus is still limited.

    Launch Date and Pricing

Additionally, the exact launch date remains undisclosed for now. Nevertheless, Infinix’s promotion of the device in the Philippines hints at a soon-to-come release in that area.

Pricing details have not been shared yet either. However, considering the phone’s mid-range specifications, it’s reasonable to think it will be a cost-effective choice for those who favor an elegant design over high-end performance.

MediaTek Helio G100 SoC Launches: 200MP Camera & Elevator Mode

MediaTek has introduced its latest Helio G100 chipset, following the release of the Tecno Camon 30S Pro, the first smartphone to incorporate this platform. The new chipset builds upon the Helio G99, featuring several enhancements aimed at boosting camera performance and connectivity.

    Specifications and Features

The Helio G100 comes with an octa-core CPU, which includes two 2.2 GHz Cortex-A76 cores and six 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores. It supports LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, both of which remain popular choices for budget devices. The maximum supported display resolution stays at 2,520 x 1,080 pixels, similar to the Helio G99.

A significant upgrade in the Helio G100 is its support for 200 MP main cameras, a considerable advancement from the Helio G99. This enhancement positions the new chipset as a robust option for devices emphasizing high-resolution photography. It can also manage 16 + 16 MP dual camera setups and 32 MP video capture at 30 frames per second.

    Improved Connectivity: The “Elevator Mode”

The Helio G100 introduces the “Elevator Mode,” designed to quickly re-establish cellular connection after exiting areas with no coverage, such as tunnels or elevators. This feature benefits users who frequently move through regions with sporadic connectivity, ensuring faster network reconnection.

The chipset supports dual 4G SIM cards with both VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and ViLTE (Video over LTE) capabilities, addressing the growing demand for improved voice and video calling quality over LTE networks.

    Market Position and Availability

The Helio G99 was favored in mid-range smartphones within LTE markets due to its cost-efficiency compared to Dimensity chipsets. The Helio G100 retains this competitive pricing while offering enhanced features, making it an appealing option for both manufacturers and consumers.

MediaTek has commenced supplying the Helio G100 to its customers, and we can anticipate seeing new smartphones equipped with this chipset in the upcoming weeks and months.
