Samsung Galaxy S25 Leak Reveals Potential RAM Upgrade

The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is approaching fast, with the next Unpacked event confirmed for January 22. Although the company hasn’t officially announced any details about the new flagship devices, there have been numerous leaks regarding what to expect.

    Major Memory Upgrade

Reports indicate that Samsung is planning to make 12 GB RAM the baseline for the entire Galaxy S25 lineup, which would be a significant leap from the 8 GB standard seen in the previous generation. A fresh leak suggests there might be additional enhancements regarding memory.

According to a respected Korean news outlet, ETNews, the Galaxy S25 series is set to utilize LPDDR5X RAM across the board. Samsung has reportedly procured 12 nm memory chips from Micron. With this upgrade from the 13 nm process, these RAM chips are expected to deliver improved performance and efficiency.

    Production Challenges

It’s important to highlight that Samsung produces its own 12 nm RAM chips. However, the South Korean tech giant faced challenges related to thermal management (Black Shark Fun Cooler 3 Pro curr. $44.99 on Amazon). While Samsung is believed to have resolved these issues, to avoid any delays in launching the Galaxy S25 series, it opted to source LPDDR5X RAM chips from Micron.

Relying on third-party suppliers isn’t unusual, but it can increase the production costs. In terms of pricing, the entire Galaxy S25 series is anticipated to experience a price increase. Recent reports suggest that the upcoming models could see a €100 rise in Europe, with similar price adjustments expected in other markets.
