Infinix Phones Eligible for Android 15 Update

The release of Android 15 is imminent, with a public launch set for October. Meanwhile, several brands are preparing their customized versions, such as Samsung’s One UI and Infinix’s XOS.

For Infinix, the new interface will be XOS 15, built on Android 15. Unfortunately, Infinix has a lousy track record with prompt software updates, and little improvement has been seen.

    Infinix’s Update Challenge

As is customary, Infinix will update a handful of devices to the latest Android version. Based on their software update policy and historical data, the following models are likely candidates:

Infinix Zero 40, Infinix Zero 40 4G, Infinix Note 40, Infinix Note 40 5G, Infinix Note 40X 5G, Infinix Note 40 Pro, Infinix Note 40 Pro 4G, Infinix Note 40 Pro+, Infinix GT 20 Pro, Infinix Xpad.

Infinix hasn’t officially released a list of devices that will support Android 15. To compile this list, we examined their update policy and past performance. Naturally, all forthcoming high-end devices should qualify for the upgrade.

Infinix’s software policy remains problematic, with unclear guidelines for updates. While Samsung and Google offer seven years of updates, Infinix only provides two, reserved for high-end models like the Note 40 Pro and Note 40 Pro+. Disappointingly, budget phones might not even receive a single update.

    Update Timing for Infinix

Infinix has yet to announce a release date for XOS 15 (Android 15-based). Judging by past launches, we don’t expect it soon.

Taking Android 14 as an example, it was released last October, with other brands quickly updating their devices. Infinix, however, delayed until January, with a slow rollout to other models.

We don’t foresee significant improvements with Android 15 updates from Infinix. Likely, the updates will begin in December or early next year.

    Key Features in Android 15

Details on changes and enhancements in XOS 15 remain sparse, but it will likely feature new customizations, wallpapers, and security/privacy enhancements.

Besides XOS 15, Android 15 will introduce new features and improvements:

    1. Theft Detection Lock

This feature uses Google’s AI to detect if your device is being stolen. If it senses this, the device locks itself, stopping thieves from accessing your data. They won’t be able to unlock the device without your Google account details.

    2. Satellite Connectivity Support

Android 15 expands platform support for satellite connectivity, enabling SMS, MMS, and native RCS apps to use satellites for messaging. Not all Android 15 phones will support this, as specific hardware and carrier support are needed.

    3. Split Screen App Pairs

This feature allows you to create shortcuts for your favorite split-screen app pairs, saving time if you frequently use apps in split-screen mode.

    1. App Archiving

With the app archiving feature, you can uninstall/archive apps without losing user data, freeing up storage. Android 15 extends this capability beyond Play Store apps to include others.

    2. Notification Cooldown

This potential feature might reduce the volume of successive notifications from the same app, helping users avoid notification overload.
