  • Casio G-Shock GBD-200 Watches Launching Soon in the UK

Casio G-Shock GBD-200 Watches Launching Soon in the UK

    Key Takeaways

    1. Casio is launching the GBD-200 models in the UK, featuring a positive MIP LCD screen for the first time in the square G-Squad series.
    2. The GBD-200 models include 20-bar water resistance, a replaceable CR2032 battery, LED backlight, and a lightweight design weighing approximately 58 grams.
    3. These watches connect via Bluetooth to the Casio Watches app for automatic updates, training logs, notifications, and GPS calibration.
    4. The expected UK price is €149, similar to the current EU listings, with availability through Casio’s website and major retailers.
    5. The launch is ideal for those who prefer the slim design and training features of the GBD-200 but were not fans of the original model’s negative display.

Casio is bringing its positive-display GBD-200s to the UK. The black GBD-200-1A1 and the white GBD-200-7 have been officially mentioned for a local launch in a recent Instagram post by the long-standing UK G-Shock source, @geesgshock. This announcement aligns with recent listings in Europe and our own updates about their rollout. The news comes shortly after Casio’s late-October listing of these models on EU online stores, such as those in the Netherlands and France, priced at €149. By early November, it was noted that stock had started shipping to various countries, making the UK and US the last major uncertainties. In summary, the UK is set to see these models soon, with these two versions expected to arrive first.

    Features of the GBD-200 Models

What makes these models stand out is their shift to a positive MIP LCD screen, marking the first time a light-background display appears in the square G-Squad series. The design retains the classic GBD-200 features: 20-bar water resistance, a replaceable CR2032 battery with an estimated life of about two years, an LED backlight, and a lightweight glass-fiber-reinforced resin case weighing approximately 58 grams. The watches connect via Bluetooth to the Casio Watches app, allowing for automatic time updates, training logs, notifications, and phone-GPS distance calibration. On the watch itself, users can access world time, a 1-second stopwatch, interval timers, four alarms, and energy-saving modes.

    Pricing and Availability

We anticipate that the UK pricing will mirror the EU listing of €149 once the local pages are activated. The distribution will likely follow the typical G-Shock channels through Casio’s website and high-street retailers. For those who were not impressed by the original GBD-200’s negative display but appreciated its slim, wrist-friendly square design and training features, this UK release should be an excellent opportunity for them.

    Key Takeaways

    1. Casio G-Shock and Bamford Watch Department are teasing a new co-branded watch featuring a Bamford-blue G.
    2. The upcoming model may be based on the GM-5600, following their previous collaborations in 2020 and 2022.
    3. Previous models sold out quickly, highlighting strong demand for these limited-edition timepieces.
    4. The second collaboration featured a round DW-6900 design with a “triple blue” theme and was also popular among fans.
    5. Follow G-Shock UK and Bamford’s social media for the latest updates and launch announcements.

Casio G-Shock UK and Bamford Watch Department have both shared the same “Soon” sneak peek on their Instagram profiles—a black square featuring a Bamford-blue G. This suggests that a new co-branded timepiece is on the horizon. While no specifications, model numbers, pricing, or release dates have been revealed yet, a trusted source, @morgan_gshock, hints that this upcoming watch might use a GM-5600 base. The teaser closely resembles the signature aqua/light blue color scheme from previous Bamford collaborations, marking this new model as the third in their partnership, following launches in 2020 and 2022.

    Previous Collaborations

The collaboration kicked off with the Bamford London x G-Shock, which was based on the 5610 “square” model, known formally as GW-M5610BWD20-1ER. This timepiece featured Bamford-blue highlights on a negative LCD display, Multi-Band 6 radio sync, and Tough Solar technology, selling out in just minutes due to the excitement surrounding the collaboration and strong resale market. Reports from Casio UK and watch-related media indicated that the watch sold out in about three minutes, showcasing the high demand for both brands.

    The Next Release

The second model switched to the round DW-6900BWD-1ER and presented a “triple blue” theme across the dial, bezel accents, and a dual-layer band, with Bamford branding displayed on the face, band, and keeper. George Bamford mentioned that the 6900 was his first G-Shock. As a result, this model also attracted lines at G-Shock’s Carnaby Street outlet, leading to a quick sell-out online.

Anticipate a short launch period, and expect the new model to sell fast when the collaboration is officially announced. Make sure to follow G-Shock UK and Bamford’s social media channels, as that’s where the news will break first.

This new information clears up previous speculations and confirms details about design, features, and the focus on Japanese culture.

    Design and Features

These watches embody the essence of origami, featuring design elements that draw from the well-known Japanese art of paper folding. The bezel and strap are adorned with printed patterns and faux stitching that mimic the layered appearance of washi paper. They utilize mountain and valley folds, all while preserving the rugged G-Shock structure. A key highlight is the origami crane, which signifies peace and endless possibilities in Japanese heritage.
