Casio is set to unveil its G-SHOCK Urban Utility series, which features four models that blend toughness, practicality, and eco-friendly materials, catering to the needs of modern city dwellers.
Overview of the G-SHOCK Urban Utility Series
This new series comprises two primary model types: the traditional DW-5610UU and the more sophisticated GA-B2100LUU. Both models are designed with durability in mind while utilizing materials that are kind to the environment. Each watch incorporates biomass plastic for the bezel and bands, which aligns with Casio’s commitment to sustainability.
Design Aspects of the Models
The DW-5610UU comes in green and gray, showcasing a layered bezel design alongside an inverted LCD display, making it easier to read in dim lighting. Additionally, it features a Super Illuminator LED backlight that boosts visibility. On the other hand, the GA-B2100LUU models are offered in beige and gray, presenting a two-tone, dual-molded bezel that provides visual appeal. These models also boast a carbon-fiber-reinforced case, ensuring durability while maintaining a lightweight feel.
Functional Tech Features
The Urban Utility series is equipped with useful features for daily life. Each model boasts a shock-resistant build and a Carbon Core Guard for extra strength. They are water-resistant up to 20 ATM, making them ideal for both adventurous activities and everyday wear. Furthermore, these watches come with Bluetooth connectivity, enabling users to connect with the “CASIO WATCHES” app for automatic time sync and additional functions. Users can access World Time for up to 300 cities, set reminders, and even use a phone finder feature. Both models utilize Tough Solar technology for charging through sunlight, and with the power-saving mode, they can last up to 18 months without any solar light.
Pricing and Launch Information
The G-SHOCK Urban Utility series is set to debut in Japan in November 2024. The price for the DW-5610UU models is 15,400 yen (around $101), while the GA-B2100LUU models will be available for 25,850 yen (approximately $170). Information about when they will be available globally is still uncertain.
In other news, Casio has introduced a limited-edition watch, the Casiotron TRN-50ZE-1A, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the original Casiotron, the first digital watch with an automatic calendar that launched in 1974.
