Rumors are swirling around the much-awaited Casio G-Shock DW-5000R watch, with indications that it may not be released in certain areas until 2025. Reports suggest that the DW-5000R-1AJF could hit the shelves in Japan either by the end of November or on December 1st. Yet, Casio hasn’t officially confirmed the launch date, so the timing for its release in Japan remains uncertain.
Possible Release Delays
According to insights from Great G-Shock World, which reference discussions on online forums, there could be a January 2025 launch for the DW-5000R in the UK. This speculation is linked to a cyberattack on Casio that occurred in October, which has already caused delays for other product launches. Several features of the DW-5000R were disclosed through a leaked manual in Japan, and now an English version of the manual is also available on the brand’s global site. Notable features include the Super Illuminator LED backlight, a fully automatic calendar that extends to 2099, an alarm, and a stopwatch. Although this model does not appear to include solar charging, it operates on a CR2016 battery that can last up to five years.
Pricing Insights
The international pricing for the Casio G-Shock DW-5000R is currently unclear, but it is anticipated to retail for ¥33,000 (around $214) in Japan. For comparison, the G-Shock Move DW-H5600 smartwatch, which offers Bluetooth connectivity, a heart rate sensor, and solar charging capabilities, is priced at $299 RRP in the United States, although it is presently on sale for $170 on Amazon.
