  • ARC Raiders Fixes Privacy Issue with Discord DMs in Latest Update

ARC Raiders Fixes Privacy Issue with Discord DMs in Latest Update

    Key Takeaways

    1. ARC Raiders was found to be capturing private Discord chats due to a flaw in the Discord SDK.
    2. The issue was discovered by computer engineer Timothy D. Meadows, who reported that private messages were saved in a plain text log file on players’ machines.
    3. The log file included complete texts of private messages and a Discord bearer authentication token, raising security concerns.
    4. Only players who linked their Discord accounts with ARC Raiders were affected; those who did not link their accounts were not impacted.
    5. Embark Studios quickly addressed the issue with a hotfix, assured players that the data was not shared externally, and is conducting a thorough audit to prevent future problems.

A recent privacy concern has emerged in ARC Raiders, revealing that the game was capturing private Discord chats. This issue has been resolved, with developer Embark Studios swiftly deploying a hotfix to eliminate the problem once it was uncovered.

    Discovery of the Issue

This issue was initially uncovered by computer engineer Timothy D. Meadows, who detailed the matter in a blog entry. His investigation revealed that when Discord integration was activated, the game was recording private direct messages between users. These messages were being saved in a plain text log file on the player’s machine.

    Content of the Log File

Reportedly, the log file included the complete text of private messages exchanged among users. Furthermore, Meadows found that a Discord bearer authentication token was also being stored in this same file. This raised concerns, as it meant that anyone with access to the computer, crash reports, or specific local applications could potentially read these messages.

    Specifics of the Issue

The problem was directly tied to the Discord SDK utilized in the game, impacting only those players who had linked their Discord accounts with ARC Raiders. Players who did not connect their Discord accounts were not impacted at all.

Shortly after the issue gained attention, Embark Studios acknowledged it and confirmed that the Discord SDK had recorded more user information than was supposed to. They reassured players that the data was never shared outside of the user’s computer and that the developers did not access or keep the messages. A hotfix has been rolled out to disable the problematic logging, and the team mentioned that they are conducting a more thorough audit to ensure that similar issues do not occur in the future.

  • Arc Raiders: Developers Aim to Challenge PvE with Massive Enemies

Arc Raiders: Developers Aim to Challenge PvE with Massive Enemies

    Key Takeaways

    1. Arc Raiders has evolved significantly since its October 2025 release, with players adapting to challenges and enhancing gameplay experiences.
    2. Developers plan to intensify the PvE aspect by introducing new Arcs with updated weapons and attack styles, along with larger adversaries.
    3. Huge, mountain-like Arcs have been spotted in the game’s environments, signaling potential new gameplay elements.
    4. Technical challenges exist in implementing these giant enemies, which could impact server performance.
    5. The addition of colossal foes may revitalize the endgame experience, making boss farming more purposeful and engaging.

A lot has transformed in Arc Raiders since it came out in October 2025. Players have shared incredible experiences, compiled lists of particularly toxic players, and even changed the game into a first-person view. As time has passed, many players have become skilled enough that the usual robot foes aren’t much of a challenge anymore, which has led the developers to take action.

    New Challenges on the Horizon

Virgil Watkins, the Design Lead at Embark Studios, stated that the PvE aspect of Arc Raiders is about to become more intense. In a chat with GamesRadar, he revealed that the team aims to add new kinds of regular Arcs with updated weapons and attack styles, while also teasing the introduction of much larger adversaries. Watkins pointed out some details that attentive players may have already seen—huge, mountain-like Arcs appearing in the background of specific environments. Moreover, several new maps are set to be unveiled in 2026.

    The Future of Giant Enemies

At this moment, these gigantic Arcs are merely visual hints, but Embark clearly wants to incorporate them into gameplay. As Watkins mentions, the difficulty is that enemies of such size would currently “blow up the server.” While there’s no confirmation that these titans will be coming soon, the possibility is still there. If the technical challenges can be managed, their introduction could greatly alter the endgame experience.

The existing endgame cycle in Arc Raiders focuses on defeating bosses to create gear that works well against those same bosses—a loop that risks feeling monotonous over time. The addition of colossal enemies could introduce a new dynamic to the endgame, providing boss farming with a more defined purpose. Feedback on Reddit has generally been optimistic, with many players eager for this potential change.

  • ARC Raiders to Launch Multiple New Maps This Year, Some Even Grander

ARC Raiders to Launch Multiple New Maps This Year, Some Even Grander

    Key Takeaways

    1. New Maps with Unique Themes: Each new map in ARC Raiders will offer a distinct experience, focusing on thematic cohesion rather than just size variations.

    2. Player Feedback Influences Updates: The developers will use player interactions and feedback to guide some of the upcoming content, ensuring updates feel relevant and engaging.

    3. Diverse Gameplay Experiences: Upcoming maps will vary in size and design to support different gameplay styles, promoting novel gameplay concepts and strategies.

    4. Technical Considerations: Map development is influenced by technical factors like server performance, player count, and enemy density, requiring a balance between ambition and stability.

    5. Comprehensive Update Roadmap: A detailed roadmap for future content, including maps, weapons, foes, and gameplay enhancements, will be shared soon to keep players informed.

ARC Raiders is set to introduce several new maps throughout 2026, with developers emphasizing that each map will have its own unique feel, rather than simply being larger or smaller versions of current locations.

    Exciting Updates Ahead

In a recent conversation with GamesRadar, Virgil Watkins, the design lead at Embark, shared that the team is diligently working on multiple map additions for the current year. While a comprehensive roadmap hasn’t been released yet, Watkins mentioned that players can look forward to one soon, detailing upcoming content for the next few months. This roadmap will feature not only new maps but also new weapons, foes, objectives, and various gameplay enhancements.

Watkins noted that Embark is still determining the timing of these updates. Instead of adhering to a rigid schedule, the team is closely observing player interactions with the game. Some updates will be influenced by player feedback and behavior, while others are intended to push the game in innovative directions. Each significant update will revolve around a distinct theme, ensuring that when new content arrives, it feels like a complete package instead of just another map added to the mix.

    Thematic Cohesion is Key

“Some of it is responding to the things you’re mentioning, like how players are really engaging with the game and what they are doing, but a big part for us is figuring out how we can advance the experience,” Watkins said. He continued, “Adding a new map is exciting since it’s a fresh place to explore. But what else is there? Thematically, gameplay-wise. How do the enemies, items, and experiences in that map all connect? It’s about creating that thematic cohesion so that when players see, ‘Oh, the Whatever Update just launched for Arc Raiders. Let’s dive in,’ that’s what we’re aiming for in the upcoming months.”

Regarding the design of maps, Watkins indicated that players should anticipate a variety of experiences. Some of the new maps will be smaller and more concentrated, while others may exceed the size of current locations like Blue Gate or Spaceport. However, size isn’t the primary focus. The team is more concerned with how each map feels to play, which includes trying out different environments, enemy types, loot quality, and conditions that alter player movement and combat.

    Diverse Gameplay Experiences

“There will be several maps coming this year, and I expect they will vary in size to support different gameplay styles. You might come across some that are smaller, and others could be even bigger than what we have now,” Watkins explained.

The introduction of new maps will also serve to present novel gameplay concepts. For instance, Stella Montis introduced rarer loot, new blueprints, and unique enemies like the Shredder. Future maps will adopt a similar strategy, providing new rewards and prompting players to rethink their tool usage.

Watkins also mentioned that technical constraints play a crucial role in map development. Factors such as server performance, player count, enemy density, visibility, and overall pacing influence the construction of a map. Some current maps are already pushing performance boundaries, so Embark must balance its ambitions with the need for stability.

  • Player’s First-Person Showcase of Terrifying Arc Raiders

Player’s First-Person Showcase of Terrifying Arc Raiders

    Key Takeaways

    1. Arc Raiders is designed for third-person gameplay, with no plans for first-person view from the developer, Embark.
    2. A player discovered a first-person mode that enhances the game’s atmosphere, though it has visual quirks.
    3. The first-person view was activated using an in-game console, which has since been patched by Embark Studios.
    4. The community is generally supportive of the first-person perspective, with calls for an official toggle and potential VR compatibility.
    5. There are mixed opinions on whether to keep the first-person mode, with some suggesting separate lobbies for different views.

Arc Raiders is marketed as an extraction adventure that only lets players engage from a third-person view, with no plans for alternative camera angles by the developer, Embark. Yet, the player community had different ideas. One gamer experienced the whole game in first-person mode. A three-minute gameplay clip was shared on Reddit by user u/Short_Statisfaction_9 and later reposted by Arc Raiders Alerts on X.

    First-Person Experience

The gameplay shown in the video reveals that the first-person mode surprisingly functions quite well. Although there are some visual quirks, like arms disappearing or quick flashes of the character’s upper body and face, these do not seem to interfere with the game itself. The shift in viewpoint is said to considerably boost the game’s atmosphere. The thread creator calls the experience “surreal” and “terrifying.” He does mention, though, that Arc Raiders doesn’t need a first-person perspective, even if he found it enjoyable.

    Console Discovery

u/Short_Statisfaction_9 doesn’t go into detail about how he activated the first-person view in Arc Raiders, but he mentioned learning about the in-game console from a post on the subreddit. He points out that most users utilize the console for clearing fog or brightening the visuals, but he chose to explore further, which led to the first-person viewing showcased in his video. Unfortunately, this loophole has been patched up. Embark Studios has responded to the issue with a hotfix that blocks access to the necessary console commands.

    Community Reactions

The Reddit users are generally applauding the deeper immersion that comes with the first-person viewpoint. Some are advocating for an official toggle option and even see a chance for VR compatibility. However, there is a consensus that this perspective might disadvantage players compared to the usual third-person view. One idea proposed is to create separate lobbies for different viewing modes. On the other hand, many others believe that Arc Raiders should stay as it is.

  • Arc Raiders Players Worry About Potential Marketplace Impact

Arc Raiders Players Worry About Potential Marketplace Impact

    Key Takeaways

    1. Surprising Success: Arc Raiders has emerged as a surprising multiplayer hit in 2025, despite community concerns about player behavior.

    2. Potential Trading Features: CEO Patrick Söderlund hinted at possible player trading features, generating both excitement and worry among fans.

    3. Community Backlash: Many players reacted negatively to the idea of a marketplace, fearing it could harm the game’s mechanics and loot value.

    4. Unofficial Black Market: An unofficial black market for trading already exists, indicating demand for trading despite lack of formal systems.

    5. Future Impact: The community’s response to potential trading features could significantly influence the game’s future and player engagement.

Arc Raiders has become one of the most surprising multiplayer hits of 2025. Although the community has gained a reputation for being somewhat unpleasant, players seem largely happy with the self-defined “extraction adventure.” However, this positive feeling might be tested soon. Recently, Patrick Söderlund, the CEO of Embark Studios, revealed some information during an in-game interview that many fans didn’t take well.

    Potential Trading Features

Söderlund mentioned that players might soon have the ability to trade with each other, calling it “the start of something exciting.” While he didn’t provide specific details, just the idea of a marketplace has sparked worries among players. Currently, Arc Raiders lacks an official trading system, but an unofficial black market has already sprouted up on Discord and other platforms. A formal marketplace, possibly with monetization similar to the Steam Marketplace, would legitimize and centralize this kind of trading.

    Community Reactions

In reaction to the interview, Reddit user u/G-SW-7892 created a thread on January 6 titled “Embark, don’t ruin this game with a marketplace!” The post quickly gained popularity, racking up over 750 comments, most of which expressed agreement. Many community members believe that a marketplace could harm the game’s core mechanics, lower the value of loot, and lessen players’ motivation to engage. Key points raised include:

An official announcement regarding an in-game trading system is still awaited, but the community’s stance is already evident. Whether Embark Studios will heed these concerns could be crucial in determining Arc Raiders’ future.

ARC Raiders has emerged as one of the most prominent games of 2025, with its recent sales figures showcasing its remarkable success. Created by Embark Studios, the game made its debut on October 30 and quickly achieved over 12 million copies sold within a brief time period.

    Sales Breakdown

These impressive sales data were revealed by Rhys Elliott, an analyst from Alinea Analytics, on LinkedIn. He noted that ARC Raiders surpassed the 12 million copies sold milestone over the weekend. As a result of this success, the game has earned more than $350 million in revenue across various platforms.

    Sales Trends

Rhys pointed out that sales have started to stabilize by early December, which is typical for major game releases after the initial excitement fades. Nevertheless, ARC Raiders experienced an unexpected surge due to a well-timed 20% price reduction on all platforms coinciding with the holiday season.

This combination of factors significantly influenced the sales trajectory, leading to a rebound rather than a decline. In fact, January 4 marked the highest sales day yet, boasting 3.2 million daily active users. How Arc Raiders Plans to Survive for the Long Haul

    Key Takeaways

    1. Arc Raiders launched in late October 2025, attracting over 700,000 simultaneous players and winning “Best Multiplayer Game” at the Game Awards.
    2. The game features a mix of PvE and PvP gameplay, with some parts of the community noted for being toxic, yet many players appreciate the experience.
    3. Embark Studios aims for a long-term vision of supporting Arc Raiders for up to 10 years or more, depending on player engagement and feedback.
    4. The game’s development will be adaptable and shaped by community responses, rather than following a conventional live-service content schedule.
    5. The recent Cold Snap update improved gameplay by addressing issues like slow progression, adding new challenges, and introducing dynamic weather effects.

Arc Raiders made its entrance in late October 2025 and had an impressive start. As reported by SteamDB, the extraction adventure game reached over 700,000 players at the same time and won the title of “Best Multiplayer Game” at the Game Awards. Although some parts of the player community have gained a reputation for being toxic, the mix of PvE and PvP gameplay has clearly struck a chord with many players. Embark Studios has expressed its dedication to keeping this momentum going in the future.

    Looking Ahead

Robert Sammelin, the Art Director at Embark Studios, shared his thoughts on the future of Arc Raiders during a chat with Tim Clark and Evan Lahti from PC Gamer at the Game Awards. While Embark is not planning to unveil a standard content roadmap, the team is aiming for a long-term “10-year vision” – a goal that has been known for some time. However, as Sammelin pointed out, the studio is ready to support the game even longer if the community stays active and engaged. “Our ambition is to keep this game alive for the longest time […] as long as players engage with it, have fun, and see that it is evolving in a good way,” he mentioned. Ultimately, the future of the game remains uncertain, heavily influenced by player interest and feedback.

    Community Influence

I think that games like this will change based on how the community acts, their feedback, and how we identify the aspects that players really connect with […] There are many different paths we could take with this, and only time will tell how we explore it.

In practical terms, this implies that Arc Raiders will not adhere to a conventional live-service model with a set content schedule. Instead, the development is designed to be adaptable and shaped by player responses. Embark’s dedication to this method is already evident in the recent Cold Snap update. This update was generally well-received by the community, addressing significant issues like slow progression and unbalanced loot. It also brought in two new challenges and implemented dynamic weather effects – most notably snowstorms, which add a fresh feel to the game both literally and figuratively.

  • This Game is Redefining a Genre – Discover What You’re Missing

This Game is Redefining a Genre – Discover What You’re Missing

    Key Takeaways

    1. ARC Raiders peaked at over 480,000 concurrent players on Steam, making it the fourth most popular game on the platform.
    2. The game is often categorized as an extraction shooter, but developers consider it an “extraction adventure,” a term that hasn’t gained much attention.
    3. Online discussions, including Reddit threads, primarily label it as an extraction shooter, with limited recognition of its unique genre.
    4. ARC Raiders offers more depth than typical extraction games, featuring expansive environments and light RPG elements that enhance storytelling.
    5. Each mission in ARC Raiders feels like a mini adventure, distinguishing it from traditional extraction shooters.

Shortly after its release, ARC Raiders reached a peak of over 480,000 players at the same time on SteamDB, securing its spot as the fourth most popular game on the platform—just behind Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG. Social media was abuzz with player achievements, streaming highlights, and commendations for its immersive sci-fi environment. However, many missed the point that the developers at Embark Studios might have created a brand new genre. This was highlighted in a recent article by Insider Gaming.

    A New Perspective on Gameplay

Players often categorize ARC Raiders as an extraction shooter, placing it alongside titles like Escape from Tarkov or PUBG: Black Budget. While the game does center around extraction mechanics, it stands out in several key aspects. This is why the creators label it an “extraction adventure”—a term that has largely gone unnoticed in discussions.

    Limited Discussion Online

Even within Reddit, the distinction hasn’t sparked much conversation. In nearly every discussion thread, the game continues to be identified as an extraction shooter. Only one post from last year, which included a screenshot with the term “Adventure” even highlighted, referred to it as a “multiplayer extraction adventure.” With just 17 comments, that thread has faded away into obscurity.

    Depth Beyond Extraction

Although ARC Raiders adheres to the common extraction gameplay—collecting gear and escaping alive—it provides considerably more depth than many titles in the genre. Players navigate expansive environments, ranging from arid deserts to dilapidated industrial sites and underground laboratories. Light RPG elements and a continuous storyline gradually unveil more about the world and its inhabitants.

In conclusion, every mission in ARC Raiders feels more like a mini adventure rather than a tactical raid. This is what differentiates Embark Studios’ creation from traditional extraction shooters and why it rightfully earns its new genre classification. If you have any opinions or thoughts to contribute, please feel free to leave a comment.

  • ARC Raiders Surpasses 4 Million Players, Nexon’s Biggest Launch

ARC Raiders Surpasses 4 Million Players, Nexon’s Biggest Launch

    Key Takeaways

    1. Successful Launch: ARC Raiders sold over 4 million copies worldwide within days of its October 30, 2025 release, marking Nexon’s most successful global launch.

    2. High Player Engagement: The game peaked at over 700,000 concurrent players, with Steam reaching 462,000 concurrent users, surpassing major titles like Helldivers 2.

    3. Unique Gameplay Dynamics: Set in a devastated Earth, the game combines third-person combat, cooperative survival, and PvPvE extraction mechanics, praised for its graphics and spontaneous encounters.

    4. Launch Challenges: Despite its success, the game faced connection issues, performance problems, and cheating reports, prompting developers to offer compensation and release patches for improvements.

    5. Future Growth Potential: Nexon views ARC Raiders as a cornerstone for its Western portfolio, with plans for new content, indicating strong future prospects in the extraction-shooter market.

Embark Studios first introduced ARC Raiders back in 2021, combining elements of sci-fi excitement with the gritty nature of survival shooters. After facing multiple delays and a surprising pivot to PvPvE extraction gameplay, the eagerly anticipated game has certainly met expectations. Publisher Nexon announced that since its release on October 30, 2025, ARC Raiders has sold over 4 million copies worldwide on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

    Player Engagement and Achievements

The game’s player engagement has also been remarkable. Nexon reported a peak of over 700,000 concurrent players across all platforms. On Steam, ARC Raiders reached a peak of 462,000 concurrent users, briefly surpassing other major titles such as Helldivers 2. Interestingly, instead of the usual drop in player numbers after launch, ARC Raiders has seen an increase, marking it as Nexon’s most successful global launch to date, showcasing a major accomplishment for Embark.

    Setting and Gameplay Dynamics

Set on a devastated Earth besieged by mechanical foes known as the ARC, the game blends third-person combat with cooperative survival and intense PvPvE extractions. Players collect resources, fend off Raiders and opposing teams, and transport their loot to safety, all while experiencing striking weather and lighting effects made possible by Unreal Engine 5. Steam users have commended the game’s breathtaking graphics and spontaneous encounters, contributing to a vibrant community since its launch. Interestingly, even though it emphasizes teamwork, many users have discovered that ARC Raiders offers a surprisingly solid solo gameplay experience. Reviews from professionals have generally praised the title, highlighting the exceptional visuals and performance on compatible systems.

    Launch Challenges and Community Reactions

However, despite its incredible success, the launch week wasn’t entirely flawless for Embark. Players experienced connection troubles, performance issues, and early reports of cheating, which led the team to offer in-game currency as a form of compensation. The developers have since released several patches aimed at improving stability, matchmaking, and addressing cheating concerns. Alongside these typical launch problems, Embark faced criticism for its use of generative AI in the game, igniting discussions about the role of AI in the gaming industry.

Nexon views the game as a cornerstone for future growth within its Western portfolio, marking a significant achievement for a publisher primarily recognized for its successes in Asian markets. Lee Jong-hong, President and Representative Director of Nexon, expressed, “We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to Embark Studios for its most successful global launch in Nexon history. We are deeply impressed by the enthusiasm that the player community puts into this game, and we are working hard to further enhance the excitement with a new content plan that will be implemented starting this month, including maps, ARC machines, weapons, and quests.” At the time of this writing, the game continues to dominate Steam’s Top Sellers list.

    Future Prospects

With ARC Raiders establishing its presence in a progressively crowded extraction-shooter market alongside titles like Tarkov, Heartland, and Dark and Darker, its early performance indicates that Embark may have achieved a successful mix of visual appeal and survival mechanics. If Embark can maintain its focus on ongoing support after launch, ARC Raiders has the potential to become a pivotal title for Nexon in the future.

  • This Extraction Shooter Surges Past Battlefield 6 & Helldivers 2 on Steam

This Extraction Shooter Surges Past Battlefield 6 & Helldivers 2 on Steam

    Key Takeaways

    1. Arc Raiders reached a peak of 462,488 concurrent players on Steam, surpassing 400,000 for the first time.
    2. The game showed consistent growth, stabilizing at over 300,000 daily players just a week after its launch.
    3. Arc Raiders outperformed Battlefield 6’s peak player count, becoming the fourth-largest game on Steam.
    4. The game’s success is attributed to its focus on community and recent updates, including new map features and a future roadmap.
    5. Some players have expressed concerns about the quality of AI-generated voice lines, feeling it detracts from the gaming experience.

The Arc Raiders game is gaining momentum, recently surpassing its own record for concurrent players on Steam. On November 9 at 20:00 UTC, it hit an impressive peak of 462,488 players at the same time, marking the first occasion that the game broke through the 400,000-player mark on this platform.

    Recent Growth

This consistent increase comes just a week after its launch, where the game already attracted over 250,000 players at the same time. After debuting last week with 264,673 players, the numbers have now stabilized at an average of more than 300,000 daily. Over the week, player counts gradually climbed, leading to a notable high of 416,517 on November 8, before reaching the record 462,488 the next day.

    Competition with Battlefield

Arc Raiders has been competing closely with Battlefield 6 every day. It has now outperformed Battlefield 6’s peak of 441,035 players within a 24-hour span, setting its own 24-hour record at 462,488, while Battlefield Studios trails behind with a player count of 237,212, at least for the moment.

This achievement positions Arc Raiders as the fourth-largest game on Steam, falling behind only Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds. For context, Arc Raiders has also surpassed Helldivers 2’s all-time peak of 458,709 players, which was recorded back on February 24, 2024.

    Reasons for Success

The success of Arc Raiders in such a competitive landscape of FPS shooters raises questions. Rhys Elliott, a market analyst from Alinea Analytics, commented, “Arc Raiders is successful because it emphasizes community – NOT just because it’s an extraction shooter.”

Recently, the developers at Embark Studios released patch 1.1.0 for Arc Raiders, introducing new map features such as Hidden Bunker and Blue Gate Night Raid. They have also hinted at a comprehensive roadmap for 2025, with a new map, Stella Montis, scheduled to launch later this month.

    Criticism and Concerns

Despite its achievements, some players have voiced their concerns regarding the use of machine learning AI in programming the behaviors of more complex Arc enemies. A significant number of gamers and critics have also raised issues about Embark’s AI voice model, which was also implemented in The Finals.

Voice actors were employed to help train the Text-to-Speech system for Arc Raiders, yet many have described the results as subpar, which detracts from the overall experience. Embark argues that employing AI helps accelerate the production of voice lines instead of relying solely on manual recordings.
