Elegoo Centauri Carbon: Advanced 3D Printer for Carbon Filaments

We have reported on Elegoo several times before here at Notebookcheck. Now, the company is preparing to launch a new 3D printer known as the Centauri Carbon. This printer features a CoreXY design, which allows it to operate at impressive speeds. The Elegoo Centauri Carbon can print at speeds reaching 500 mm/s and has a maximum acceleration of 20,000 mm/s². However, it’s important to know that faster print speeds often mean lower print quality.

    Build Volume and Protection

The Elegoo Centauri Carbon offers a build volume of 256 x 256 x 256 mm (10.1 x 10.1 x 10.1 in), making it suitable for larger prints. The enclosed design helps shield the workpiece and the print nozzle from drafts during printing. Additionally, it comes with a filter to minimize exposure to printer fumes, reducing potential health risks and strong odors.

    Temperature and Features

The hot end of the printer can heat up to 320°C (608°F), while the print bed can reach temperatures of 110°C (230°F). As suggested by its name, the Centauri Carbon is compatible with carbon filaments, allowing users to create very sturdy 3D prints. This model comes equipped with modern amenities, such as a webcam for overseeing the print job and a touchscreen for easy setting adjustments. A magnetic build plate with one textured and one smooth side is also included. Although the Elegoo Centauri Carbon is expected to launch soon, specific pricing details are still not available.

  • Elegoo 3D Printer: 16K Resolution, Touchscreen, and Camera

Elegoo 3D Printer: 16K Resolution, Touchscreen, and Camera

Elegoo is a popular name in the world of 3D printers, and they’ve recently launched a new resin printer called the Saturn 4 Ultra 16K. While the Saturn 4 Ultra is already on the market, this new model offers a significant resolution boost, increasing from 11,520 x 5,120 to 15,120 x 6,230. This upgrade relates to the 10-inch LCD display located at the bottom of the printer, which, instead of showing images, provides the essential light for selectively curing photosensitive resin. A higher resolution translates to improved display quality. The Z-axis accuracy remains consistent at 0.02 millimeters, and the XY resolution continues to be at 14 x 19 μm. The printing speed can reach up to 150 millimeters per hour, which indicates the height of the printed object.

    Features and Capabilities

In terms of build volume, the 16K model maintains the same dimensions as its predecessor, measuring 211.68 x 118.37 x 220 millimeters. However, it now includes a new AI camera equipped with a built-in chamber light, allowing users to monitor the printing process continuously. The tank heating system has been updated with smart temperature control that keeps the resin at a steady 30 °C, promoting better fluidity and layer adhesion. The leveling process is automated, meaning users won’t need to manually adjust the print plate—a task that, while not particularly difficult, can be extremely time-consuming.

    Additional Features

The Saturn 4 Ultra 16K comes packed with various other features like a resin shortage alert, a residue detection warning, a leveling failure alert, resin level detection, advanced overheating protection, power loss recovery, WiFi cluster printing, a USB port, an air filter system, and much more.

You can now pre-order this machine for $499.99, which is almost 20% lower than the recommended retail price of $623.99. The expected delivery date is set for the end of February.

Elegoo Mars 5 Ultra Now Available at Micro Center Stores

The Mars 5 Ultra is currently priced at $300.99 on Amazon. For those who want to try out the 3D printer before making a purchase, there’s good news. A high-speed resin extruder that supports up to 9K resolution will soon be available at a Micro Center store nearby.

    New Additions to Micro Center

Alongside the Mars 5 Ultra, shoppers will find the Saturn 4 Ultra and the Neptune 4 Plus FDM printer available at the 28-store chain throughout the United States. Additionally, the larger Neptune 4 Max will be added to this selection, rounding out Micro Center’s new line of Elegoo products.

    Expanding Accessibility

Since its founding in 2015, Elegoo has mainly operated online, but they view partnerships with retailers like Micro Center as "a key step" towards reaching more 3D printing fans in the US, as stated by sales director Chris Liu.

Elegoo printers can also be found at Canada Computers & Electronics, which has 42 locations across the country.
