Casio has introduced two new durable G-Shock watches in the United States. The G-Shock GA010CE-2A and GD010CE-5 are being marketed as eco-friendly options, featuring cloth straps made from 100% recycled materials.
Eco-Friendly Materials
According to Casio, the bands are crafted from a mixture of CORDURA’s nylon fabric—sourced from post-industrial waste—and recycled PET plastic fiber made from used bottles and packaging. These bands are dyed with natural dyes from FOOD TEXTILE, with the GA-010CE-2A showcasing colors from red turnip extracts and the GD-010CE-5 using echinacea extracts. Although these watches were first released in Japan in January, they are just now becoming available in the US. Aside from the eco-conscious materials, they are the same as the GA010-1A1 and GD010-1A1 models that came to the US earlier this month.
Watch Features
The GA010CE-2A is a hybrid analog-digital timepiece, while the GD010CE-5 is a completely digital model with an LCD display. Both watches are made with bio-based resin for their cases and incorporate a carbon core guard structure to enhance durability. They also come with all the classic G-Shock features, such as shock resistance, water resistance up to 200 meters, a battery life of 10 years, and a Super Illuminator LED light for better visibility in dark conditions. Additional features include world time for 48 cities, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a hand shift function (available on GA010CE-2A), a countdown timer, five daily alarms, and a full auto-calendar that goes up to the year 2099.
Pricing and Availability
The G-Shock GA010CE-2A is available for $140, while the GD010CE-5 is priced at $120. Both models are currently on sale in the US and can be bought directly from Casio’s website.
