    The Rockrider E-ACTV 100 e-bike from Decathlon is set at a price of €999, making it €1,000 less than the mid-range E-ACTV 500. The company has labeled it a ‘price-first’ electric bike intended for both commuting and casual rides. To keep costs down, Decathlon has opted for a less expensive saddle and has not added a luggage rack. Nevertheless, this e-bike still packs some great features for the price.

    Performance Features

    Equipped with a rear-hub motor, the E-ACTV 100 delivers up to 45 Nm of torque; the maximum assistance speed is likely capped at 25 kph (approximately 16 mph). It has various assistance modes, including Eco and Boost, and replaces the pedal sensor found in earlier models with a rotation or motion sensor. The bike comes with a 356 Wh battery claimed to offer a range of up to 70 km (around 44 miles) in assistance mode. Additionally, it features a 6-speed Microshift transmission, a suspension fork with 60 mm (about 2.4 inches) travel, Tektro mechanical disc brakes, and all-terrain tires that are 48 mm (nearly 1.9 inches) wide.

    Additional Equipment

    Included with the bike are fenders, front and rear lights, and a control unit. This unit displays the battery level and lets you turn the bike on or off, change the assistance mode, and manage the lights. Plus, with Bluetooth connectivity, users can access more journey details through the Decathlon Ride app on their smartphones. The bike will come in both high and low frame options, available in several sizes, and weighs around 23 kg (approximately 50.7 lbs), making it suitable for riders ranging from 155 to 200 cm (about 5’ 8” to 6’ 6”).

    The Decathlon Rockrider E-ACTV 100 e-bike is anticipated to launch in France around mid-March. A support page for this new model can be found on Decathlon’s German website. The manual suggests that the e-bike may also become available in other European countries, such as Spain and Italy.
