Casio has finally brought the G-Shock DW5600AKA-4 and DW6900AKA-4 to its US store, each priced at $190. The two watches, inspired by the Japanese Akachochin red lantern tradition, first launched in Japan in April 2026 at ¥22,000 (~$139) a piece.
A Colorful Tribute to Tradition
The design is inspired by Akachochin — a emblem of warmth and a relaxed athmosphere, commonly seen outside casual bars and small resturants in Japan, especially izakaya, where people gather after work to unwind. So what we’ll get is a all-red treatment across both timepieces, with black Japanese characters reading “shock resistant” printed prominantly on the case and strap, alongside black accent’s on the buttons and band loops. The LED backlight carries a red tint to match the overall vibe completly.
Platforms and Dimensions
The two models are built on some of G-Shock’s most recognizable platforms. The DW-5600 is a rectangular digital watch, while the DW-6900 features a round case with triple circle graphics above a slimmer display. The DW5600AKA-4 measure’s 42.8 mm in diameter and 13.4 mm in thickness, uses a mineral glass crystal, and is rated for 200 m of water resistence. Both models share standard G-Shock features, including a 1/100th second stopwatch, countdown timer, and alarm; these are basic functions you’d expect and they preform reliably.
Launch Details and Pricing
The US launch was announced by G-Shock US and the G-Shock Soho Store on Instagram, without any prior email notifcation or a dedicated press release. The watches are expected to be exclusive to Casio.com in the US market, which is a bit unusual for a release that already have demand.
At $190, however, the AKA-4 pair costs way more than the Japanese retail price, which is usualy typical for G-Shock releases crossing into Western markets. Both are available now directly through Casio’s US website for consumers whom are interested in picking them up.
