    Silkland Launches 6.6-Foot VESA-Certified DisplayPort 2.1 Cable

    It seems that the monitor you’re going to buy soon is likely to feature DisplayPort (DP) 2.1. This new standard has a bandwidth capability of up to 80Gb/s, which means it can handle “uncompressed 16K content.” However, it’s more probable that you’ll be using it for 8K at a refresh rate reaching 240Hz, or 4K at various refresh rates such as 240Hz, 360Hz, 540Hz, or even up to 960Hz.

    New Cable Features

    Silkland has declared that their newest cable is the first 6.6 feet (2 meters) long cable sporting the new “D80” logo on its ends. This logo is given by VESA certification, which it has received for meeting the advanced DP 2.1 specifications. The cable works with graphics cards from AMD’s RX 7000 series, like the RX 7900 XTX, and NVIDIA’s range from RTX 3070 to the newest 5090 models.

    Compatibility and Quality

    Furthermore, the S1334 cable is compatible with FreeSync and G-Sync technologies, ensuring smooth gameplay. It’s also designed to support HDR10+ visuals on compatible devices, providing a better viewing experience.

    LG has recently launched the UltraGear OLED 27GX790A worldwide, and soon after, they introduced the more affordable UltraGear 32GS75QN-B. Now, many are curious about what LG might unveil next year.

    Exciting New Developments

    There are emerging mentions of the UltraGear OLED 45GX950A online. For example, LG has registered this upcoming monitor with the National Radio Research Agency in South Korea, much like it did with the OLED C5 and OLED G5 models previously. Furthermore, this same model number has been spotted in the UL Solutions’ database, which we have included below for reference.

    Impressive Specifications Expected

    It is said that the UltraGear OLED 45GX950A will feature a 5K2K (5,120 x 2,160) resolution and come with DisplayPort 2.1 support. Additionally, this monitor is expected to adopt an RGWB pixel arrangement. Sadly, further specifics are still unclear, including whether it will exceed the 240 Hz refresh rate of this year’s UltraGear OLED 45GS95QE (currently priced at $996.99 on Amazon).

    LG UltraGear OLED 27GX790A Now Available with Limited DisplayPort 2.1

    The troubles with DisplayPort 2.1 continue. Recently, it took HP two months to acknowledge that the Omen Transcend 32 does not support Ultra-High Bit Rate 20 (UHBR20), which allows for transfer speeds of 80 Gbit/s (DP80) through one DisplayPort 2.1 connection. Now, LG has found itself in a similar situation with the UltraGear OLED 27GX790A, which was launched just this month.

    Clarification on Specifications

    Initially, there were claims that the UltraGear OLED 27GX790A was equipped with an 80 Gbit/s DisplayPort 2.1 connection, similar to the Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P. However, LG later corrected this statement, confirming that the monitor actually uses the lower UHBR13.5 standard. As a result, the UltraGear OLED 27GX790A only provides around 54 Gbit/s through DisplayPort 2.1.

    Impact on Performance

    Because of this limitation, the monitor cannot support its native 1440p resolution and 480 Hz refresh rate without some form of compression. It is forced to use Display Stream Compression (DSC) to achieve the desired frame rate and resolution, much like the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP and Inzone M10S (currently priced at $999.99 on Amazon).

    In essence, gaming at 1440p and 480 Hz will result in some loss of quality. Meanwhile, LG has started accepting pre-orders for the monitor, which is currently only available in the US.
