OnePlus Ace 3 Pro to Feature Bugatti Veyron-Inspired Ceramic Back

The schematics for the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro were leaked online a few days ago. Recently, the phone received 3C certification at the end of last month. Rumors now suggest that it will feature a ceramic back and a metal middle frame.

OnePlus Ace 3 Pro’s New Materials

Well-known tipster Digital Chat Station shared this information in a Weibo post. Another rumor on the platform indicated that many new devices in 2024 will use this new material. According to DCS, OnePlus plans to use a hot forging process for the ceramic back plate, which he mentioned will be white. Though, it might not be a pure white but a different shade.

The inspiration for using ceramic reportedly comes from the ceramic version of the Bugatti Veyron. DCS also noted that the ceramic back plate will have a unique texture.

DCS has pointed out that this phone will be the first to feature a metal middle frame combined with a ceramic back plate.

    Ceramic Build Details

Ceramic is generally heavier than glass, so the phone might be slightly heavier. The new material is also more costly than glass, which could make the ceramic version more expensive. However, it’s important to note that this is still a rumor, and the company might cancel the ceramic plans.

    Internal Specifications

Internally, the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, last year’s flagship chipset from Qualcomm. It may feature a triple camera setup on the back with 50MP + 8MP + 2MP sensors and a 16MP front camera. The display could be a 6.78-inch BOE 8T LTPO screen with a 1.5K resolution.

A previous rumor suggested that the phone would have a massive 6100mAh battery and support 100W wired fast charging.

Apple Explored Dark Ceramic Back for Apple Watch Ultra, FCC Documents Reveal

Apple reportedly conducted experiments with a dark ceramic back for the Apple Watch Ultra, according to documents filed with the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

    Prototype Revealed in FCC Documents

The FCC documents, discovered by @ParrotSWD on X/Twitter, indicate that Apple may have initially considered a darker color option for the smartwatch before ultimately choosing the current titanium finish. These documents were part of Apple's application for the Apple Watch Ultra, which was released in September 2022. They include images of a prototype that features a dark ceramic back, closely resembling the ceramic back found on previous Apple Watch Series models.

    Design Differences from Final Release

One notable design difference in the prototype is the presence of a plastic-looking Action button with no indent. This deviates from the final release of the Apple Watch Ultra. The prototype images suggest that Apple was exploring various design elements for the smartwatch before finalizing its appearance.

    Expiration of Confidentiality Clause

According to MacRumors, it is likely that the confidentiality clause associated with the FCC filings for the Apple Watch Ultra has recently expired. This expiration may have allowed the images of the dark ceramic prototype to surface now, providing a glimpse into Apple's design experimentation process.

Current Offering of Apple Watch Ultra 2

Apple currently offers the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which was released in September 2023, in the same natural titanium color as the first-generation model. Despite rumors prior to the launch of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 suggesting the possibility of a darker color option, this did not come to fruition.
