OneXPlayer X1 Air Launches Globally as Intel Lunar Lake Handheld

    Key Takeaways

    1. The OneXPlayer X1 Air is now available for global orders, following its announcement at ChinaJoy 2025, with shipping starting on September 25.
    2. It features a 10.95-inch, 120 Hz IPS display, similar to the OneXPlayer X1 Pro, but retains a portrait orientation.
    3. The device can be equipped with Intel’s Core Ultra 5 228V or Core Ultra 7 258V processors, offering better energy efficiency and a larger 72 Wh battery.
    4. A built-in kickstand is introduced, and storage upgrades are made easier with a proprietary Mini SSD slot, replacing the previous OCuLink.
    5. Pricing starts at $1,099 for the Core Ultra 5 model, with options for different configurations and storage capacities up to $1,399.

One-Netbook has followed through on its commitment to launch the OneXPlayer X1 Air, which was first revealed last month at ChinaJoy 2025 in Shanghai. The company had earlier announced that the OneXPlayer X1 Air would be available starting September 8. However, customers can now place orders for this latest addition to the OneXPlayer X1 series globally.

    Design and Display

At first glance, the OneXPlayer X1 Air closely resembles the recently released OneXPlayer X1 Pro (currently priced at $1,499 on Amazon). The new model continues to feature the 10.95-inch, 120 Hz IPS display found in earlier versions. Sadly, it seems that One-Netbook still opts for a portrait-oriented display instead of a landscape one. Still, the screen is bright and showed minimal backlight bleeding during our evaluation.

    Key Features

As previously mentioned, there are four significant changes that distinguish the OneXPlayer X1 Air from other models in the OneXPlayer X1 series. Firstly, it can be equipped with either the Core Ultra 5 228V or Core Ultra 7 258V processors from Intel’s Lunar Lake family, featuring Arc 130V and Arc 140V integrated GPUs, respectively. These processors should prove to be more energy-efficient compared to the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 found in the OneXPlayer X1 Pro, and they come with a 10% larger battery that offers a peak capacity of 72 Wh.

    Storage and Pricing

In addition, One-Netbook has finally added a built-in kickstand, moving away from the afterthought solution seen in other OneXPlayer X1 models. On the downside, the company has replaced the OCuLink with a proprietary Mini SSD slot developed by Biwin, which is also utilized in the GPD Win 5. However, this new Mini SSD slot makes the process of upgrading storage easier.

The OneXPlayer X1 Air is priced starting at $1,099, featuring a Core Ultra 5 228V, 32 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD, and a magnetic keyboard. Alternatively, customers can choose the Core Ultra 7 258V version with 32 GB of RAM for $1,299, or opt for the 1 TB or 2 TB storage options for $1,399. Furthermore, One-Netbook prices a 512 GB Mini SSD at $59 and a 1 TB version at $89. All orders for the OneXPlayer X1 Air are expected to begin shipping on September 25.

  • MSI Claw 8 AI+ May Launch With Affordable Intel Core Ultra 5 228V

MSI Claw 8 AI+ May Launch With Affordable Intel Core Ultra 5 228V

The MSI Claw stands out as a unique entry in the premium gaming handheld market. It first launched as a 7-inch device, heavily inspired by the Asus ROG Ally (currently priced at $399.99 – refurbished on Amazon). However, instead of using AMD’s reliable Ryzen 7000, Ryzen 8000, or Ryzen Z1 platforms, MSI chose to implement Intel’s Core Ultra 5 135H and Core Ultra 7 155H processors.

    Performance Issues

Intel’s Meteor Lake architecture led to underwhelming GPU performance and power efficiency, which hindered the Claw 7 AV1M’s success. After receiving a slew of negative reviews, MSI quickly introduced the Claw 8 AI+, featuring the newer Intel Lunar Lake processors, and hinted at an updated 7-inch model based on the same technology.

    Specifications Update

MSI officially markets the Claw 7 AI+ AV2M and Claw 8 AI+ AV2M with the Core Ultra 7 258V exclusively. Consequently, both models come equipped with 32 GB of RAM and Intel’s relatively powerful Arc 140V integrated GPU. An intriguing post on Reddit mentioned that MSI might have had extra plans for the Claw refresh that were potentially scrapped at the last moment.

    Prototype Discovery

Interestingly, a Reddit user named u/sozuoka claimed to have discovered a ‘Claw 8 prototype’ that features Intel’s Core Ultra 5 228V. This option is less common and includes 32 GB of RAM but has lower CPU clock speeds and a third less L3 cache compared to the Core Ultra 7 258V. While the two processors share the same CPU cores, the Core Ultra 5 228V comes with a somewhat weaker Arc 130V integrated GPU compared to the Core Ultra 7 258V.

Reports suggest that the Core Ultra 5 228V may outperform the Core Ultra 7 155H by approximately 20%, even in its prototype form. The prototype is said to be fully functional, raising questions about its absence from retail markets as a more affordable alternative. It’s possible that the performance difference between the Arc 130V and Arc 140V was too minimal to warrant two separate product launches. The high price of the Claw 8 AI+ AV2M in both the UK and the US certainly leaves room for a lower-cost model to be introduced.
