It is a road bike without a motor. Nevertheless, we can easily imagine that sooner or later, certain technologies showcased for the Predict could also find their way into high-end e-bikes.

    Advanced Traffic Analysis and Anticipation

    For example, the bike is said to be capable of analyzing the traffic environment. According to Canyon, however, that’s not all. The goal is not only to detect the current traffic situation but also to anticipate the behavior of other road users. The system is designed to assess risks and provide adaptive feedback using adaptive lighting, haptic (tactile) signals, and indicators on the integrated display—as well as a helmet with a head-up display. In addition, according to the manufacturers, there will also be adaptive features such as automatic lowering of the seat post to lower the center of gravity—a small shift in the center of gravity could, in extreme situations, make the difference between a fall and catching the bike.

    Even though these e-bikes are designed for different purposes, they both utilize the same Shimano EP801 motor and come equipped with a new 800 Wh battery housed in aluminum from Darfon. They provide 600 W of power, with 85 Nm of torque, and can reach up to 85 km (52.8 miles) on a single charge. Additionally, these bikes can handle climbs of up to 1,900 meters.

    According to Canyon’s press release, unlike previous battery packs, the newest battery technology allows for increased power and better efficiency. The Spectral:ON features a mullet setup for nimble handling, with 155 mm of travel in its triple-phase suspension and 160 mm at the fork. Meanwhile, the Torque:ON boasts slightly superior travel, offering 175 mm of real travel and 180 mm in the front.
