The iPhone SE is definitely due for a refresh. Rumors suggest that a much-needed redesign and spec update for Apple’s affordable iPhone is closer than anticipated, likely arriving in the Spring, along with a new iPad Air and a budget iPad.
New Chip Rumors
Recently, a new rumor from MacRumors indicates that the next iPhone SE4, once thought to be called the iPhone 16e, will include a SoC identified as T8410. This suggests it will have an A18 or A18 Pro chip. However, considering that the iPhone SE4 is aimed at budget-conscious customers, it’s reasonable to expect that the chip will likely be the A18 instead of the A18 Pro. This aligns with Apple’s pattern of providing the iPhone SE with the same generation flagship SoCs, which enables high performance with last year’s designs.
Expected Features
From the leaks we’ve seen, the iPhone SE 4 seems set to feature a 6.1-inch OLED screen, a single 48 MP rear camera, USB-C, support for Apple Intelligence, and FaceID. The current iPhone SE is priced at $429 (or $358 on Amazon right now), but given the significant upgrades, a notable price increase could be on the horizon. For fans of smaller displays, it looks like the iPhone SE will be the final model of its type for the time being.
