iPhone 16e Leak: Larger Display, A18 Chip, and More Features

Several sources have indicated that Apple might unveil a new version of the iPhone SE this year. Latest speculation hints that the company could remove the “SE” name and rebrand it as the “iPhone 16e.” Today, a trusted leaker, Digital Chat Station, posted on Weibo, mentioning they had access to the materials for the iPhone 16e. The post also disclosed some important details about the new device.

    Specifications of the iPhone 16e

The leaker claims that the iPhone 16e comes with a 6.06-inch FHD+ LTPS OLED screen featuring a 60Hz refresh rate and a notch design, providing a blend of familiar and modern aesthetics. Its metal right-angle frame echoes recent iPhone styles, ensuring a sturdy and premium feel. The device shares many design elements with the iPhone 14, giving it a solid and polished look.

    Performance and Features

Inside, the iPhone SE4/16e will be equipped with Apple’s A18 Bionic chip, which promises top-notch performance. It will include Face ID for secure unlocking and authentication, suggesting the removal of the Home button. For photography, the iPhone 16e will only have a single rear camera and will also be waterproof.

Another source, Smart Pikachu, has indicated that the iPhone 16e will feature Apple’s own baseband technology, reducing dependency on companies like Qualcomm for the 5G modem. The launch is anticipated to happen in the first half of the year, with March being a potential debut month.

    Affordable and Functional

Targeted as the least expensive iPhone in Apple’s range, this model aims to provide users with an easy entry point into the Apple ecosystem without sacrificing essential features. With many components inspired by the iPhone 14, the iPhone SE4/16e seeks to strike a balance between cost and functionality. According to other reports, the manufacturing of the iPhone 16e will take place in India.

iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone SE 4 Marketing Material Leaks

A new leak has surfaced on Weibo, possibly disclosing information about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 series and the iPhone SE 4, as reported by Smartprix. While intriguing, the legitimacy of these leaks hasn’t been confirmed, so it’s best to view them with skepticism.

    iPhone SE 4

The leaked promotional material hints at a substantial design overhaul for the iPhone SE 4. It suggests the device will sport a larger 6.1-inch screen akin to the iPhone 14, complete with a notch at the top for Face ID integration.

A major revelation could be the potential inclusion of the A18 Bionic chip, the same processor anticipated for the iPhone 16 series. If accurate, this would mean the iPhone SE 4 could deliver high-end performance at a price that’s easier on the wallet, with the leak indicating a price tag around 4199 Yuan (~ $599).

Although the front design is expected to resemble the iPhone 14, details about the phone’s back are sparse. It’s rumored to retain the single rear camera setup seen in earlier SE models.

    iPhone 16 Pro

According to the leaked marketing material, the iPhone 16 Pro may not differ significantly in design from the iPhone 15 Pro, except for a new dedicated camera button positioned on the lower right side.

Internally, the iPhone 16 Pro is speculated to be equipped with the A18 Pro chip, offering a sensible upgrade over previous models.

The leak also reveals that the phone’s ultrawide camera could feature a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with "ultra-thin prism reflection technology." This advancement, supposedly supported by the A18 Pro’s neural network engine, might enhance image quality and possibly enable features like spatial video for Apple’s Vision Pro headset.

Color choices for the iPhone 16 Pro are said to include Black, White, Blue, and Yellow, with no mention of a Bronze option, suggesting it might be exclusive to the Pro Max variant.

The iPhone 16 series is expected to debut globally on September 10, according to a recent report. Meanwhile, the iPhone SE 4 is anticipated to release in the first quarter of 2025.
