Sony Xperia Pro-I Successor: Compact Flagship with 6.0″ Display

Sony Xperia Pro-I Successor: Compact Flagship with 6.0″ Display

Sony recently unveiled the Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 10 VI. Now, information from tipster @INSIDERSONY on X suggests that a new model, possibly named Xperia Pro C, is in development as the successor to the Xperia Pro-I. This upcoming device is expected to be more compact compared to Sony’s current flagship models.

Xperia Pro C’s Rumored Features

The Xperia Pro C is speculated to feature a 6.0″ 2K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an anti-reflective coating. For comparison, the Galaxy S24 Ultra this year includes Gorilla Glass Armor with an anti-reflective coating, significantly enhancing outdoor visibility.

Though Sony has shifted its focus away from the mainstream smartphone market, the rumored compact nature of the Xperia Pro C might attract some users who prefer smaller phones. Most flagship phones from 2023 and 2024 exceed 6 inches in size. For example, the iPhone 15 has a 6.1″ display, the base models of Pixel 8 and Galaxy S24 feature 6.2″ screens, the Xiaomi 14 has a 6.36″ display, and the OnePlus 12 comes with a 6.8″ screen.

Performance and Battery

In terms of performance, the Xperia Pro C will reportedly be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, rather than the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The base variant might include 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The device is expected to house a 5000mAh battery with support for 45W PD fast charging.

Camera Specifications (Rumored)

The main camera is rumored to feature a 50MP 1″ type sensor (possibly from OmniVision), with a 20mm field of view, f/1.8 aperture, and OIS support. This setup could enable 12-bit RAW and 14-bit DCG RAW capabilities.

Additionally, the phone might include two other 12MP cameras. One of these could support 4K 120 FPS 10 Bit 420 S – LOG gamma curve and HLG, as well as JPG/60 FPS RAW with AE/AF, and offer Sony S-Cine-tone and creative look features. The third camera is expected to be a 1/2.9″, 20mm, F 2.0 module supporting 4K 60 FPS HDR and Sony Creative look.
