Sanwa Supply has launched a new boombox that combines features for those who love cassette tapes. This device mixes classic and modern audio aspects, offering traditional analog knobs and buttons.
Cassette Player Features
One of the standout retro elements is the cassette tape player. It can playback tapes with a frequency range of 60 Hz to 10 kHz and records at a range of 100 Hz to 10 kHz. Users can enjoy their tapes through the three-watt stereo speakers or via headphones through the 3.5 mm stereo jack.
Digital Conversion Capabilities
By inserting an SD card or USB flash drive, users can easily transform their cassette tapes into 128 kbps 48 kHz mono MP3 files. Additionally, users have the option to upload their own MP3 files onto these memory devices or connect their smartphones or other audio sources via Bluetooth 5.3 for seamless playback. The boombox supports MP3 playback at a frequency range of 100 Hz to 10 kHz and a recording range of 125 Hz to 10 kHz.
AM/FM Radio Tuner
Another nostalgic aspect is the AM/FM radio tuner, which can receive AM stations from 530 to 1,600 kHz and FM stations ranging from 76 to 108 MHz. It also includes an extendable FM antenna and an internal AM rod antenna, which helps maintain good reception quality.
The device can be powered using an AC power cord or four C-sized batteries, which provide about 50 hours of use across all modes. The boombox measures 34 x 12 x 8.25 cm (13.4 x 4.7 x 3.2 in.) and weighs 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs.).
The price for the Sanwa Supply multifunction boombox is set at 13,800 yen (~$90), and it's offered in black (400-MEDI050BK) and red (400-MEDI050R) options from Sanwa Supply. For those looking for a smaller alternative, the FiiO CP13 portable cassette player is available on Amazon.
