Resident Evil 4 Revival by Capcom Achieves New Milestone

Capcom has shared that the Resident Evil 4 remake has reached over 9 million copies sold. This makes it one of the quickest-selling titles in the series, with more than a million copies sold just in the last quarter.

Sales Data Overview

As per Capcom’s sales records (up to September 2024), the Resident Evil 2 remake holds the top spot in the series, with sales surpassing 14 million units. Following closely, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard also stands at 14 million copies, while Resident Evil Village comes in third with over 10 million units sold.

Performance of Older Titles

Looking back at earlier entries, Resident Evil 5 has nearly hit 9.5 million copies sold. Meanwhile, Resident Evil 6 has moved approximately 9.3 million units, and the Resident Evil 3 remake has achieved 9.2 million units in sales.

Capcom is already hinting at more Resident Evil games in the pipeline. Yasuhiro Anpo, who directed the Resident Evil 4 remake, informed IGN last year that additional remakes are on the horizon.

Future Plans

"We’ve put out three remakes up till now and they’ve all been well received," Anpo mentioned. "It’s great to let a new audience experience these classics, and as a fan of the original games, I’m excited to keep this going."

Rumors from Bloody Disgusting suggest that Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine will join forces in Resident Evil 9. The beloved character Chris Redfield is set to return as a supporting role, along with Barry Burton, who first appeared in the initial Resident Evil game back in 1996.
