Recently, users in China have observed that the Redmi K70 series has sold out. Wang Teng Thomas, who is the Deputy General Manager of Xiaomi’s China Marketing Department and also heads the Redmi brand, took to Weibo to announce that the sales lifecycle for the K70 has wrapped up early, leading to its discontinuation. He noted that the K70 has been widely praised for its exceptional performance, securing its position as the top-selling smartphone in the 2000 Yuan (~$278) to 3000 Yuan (~$417) segment for 2024.
Upcoming Redmi K80 Series
Wang Teng Thomas has also teased the forthcoming Redmi K80 series, referring to it as the "new champion" and indicating that it is on its way. For those who urgently need a flagship device from Redmi, he suggested the Redmi K70 Ultra, which is equipped with the Dimensity 9300+. Reports suggest that the official announcement for the Redmi K80 series will take place in China by the end of this month (November).
Details on the Redmi K70 Series
The Redmi K70 series, which debuted in November of the previous year, included three models: the K70e, K70, and K70 Pro, starting at a price of 1,999 Yuan (~$278). The trio was powered by the Dimensity 8400, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipsets, respectively. Notably, the K80 Pro will only be available in the Chinese market, while the K70e and K70 have been rebranded as the Poco X6 Pro and Poco F6 Pro for international sales.
No K80e Model Confirmed
Last week, Thomas confirmed that there wouldn't be a Redmi K80e model in the new series. The anticipated lineup is likely to consist of the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro. These devices are expected to contend with the iQOO Neo 10 and Neo 10 Pro, which are also set to be unveiled by the end of November. Reports indicate that the Neo 10 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the Neo 10 Pro will utilize the Dimensity 9400 chipset.
It is expected that the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro will incorporate the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Elite chipsets, respectively. The Xiaomi executive has reiterated on several occasions that the new Redmi K80 series will see an increase in price.
