Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Book 14/16 2024 laptops in November last year in its domestic market. Subsequently, the company introduced a slightly downgraded version featuring a lower-resolution display, a smaller battery, and a 12th-gen i5 chip instead of the original 13th-gen i5. The initial version (16GB RAM + 512GB storage) was priced at 4399 Yuan ($621), while the downgraded version (with i5-12450H) retailed for 3,399 yuan ($475) at launch.
Price Reduction for the 12th Gen i5 Model
Currently, JD.com is offering the 12th-generation model of the Redmi Book 16 2024 at 3,036 yuan (~$422). Additionally, members can avail an extra 7.59 yuan discount, along with support for double compensation for overpriced purchases.
The display features a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels (16:10) and supports a refresh rate of 60Hz. It can achieve a peak brightness of 300 nits, covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut, and supports both DC dimming and Dolby Vision.
Performance and Specifications
Powered by the 12th generation Intel Core i5-12450H processor, the laptop boasts 8 cores and 12 threads, with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.4GHz for the performance core. It has a thermal design power (TDP) of 47W. The i5 chip is complemented by 16GB LPDDR5 5200MT/s dual-channel high-frequency memory and a 1TB PCle 4.0 high-speed SSD. Additionally, there is support for storage expansion through an extra M.2 slot.
In contrast to the 13th Gen model, this version features a smaller 56Wh battery and weighs 1.63kg (compared to 1.68kg). However, it maintains the same 15.9mm thickness and includes a 100W GaN power adapter. Notably, it comes with Xiaomi’s HyperOS connect feature, allowing for ecosystem functionalities within the company's product lineup.
