Xiaomi just held a big event where they showed off the Xiaomi 15 series smartphones, the Pad 7 series tablets, the Watch S4, and the Smart Band 9 Pro. In a more low-key announcement, the company also revealed the Redmi Band 3, which is the next version of the well-liked Redmi Band 2.
Features of the Redmi Band 3
The Redmi Band 3 keeps the same design as the earlier model, sporting a 1.47-inch screen with a resolution of 320 x 172 pixels and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The display is framed by silicone bands that come in several colors such as white, pink, yellow, black, and dark gray. This new band has a slim profile, measuring only 9.99mm thick, and it weighs just 16.5 grams.
Improvements Over Its Predecessor
This latest band brings a number of enhancements compared to the last one, including Bluetooth 5.3 for better connectivity, a water resistance rating of 5ATM, and NFC for making contactless payments. However, it does not have built-in GPS, which could be a downside for those who enjoy outdoor activities. It also includes 50 sports modes, along with All-Day Heart Rate Monitoring, All-Day Blood Oxygen Monitoring, and Scientific Sleep Tracking.
The smart band runs on Xiaomi HyperOS and offers more than 100 customizable watch faces. It is powered by a 300mAh battery that Xiaomi says can last up to 18 days on a regular charge. If used heavily, you might expect it to last about 9 days.
Pricing and Availability
At the moment, the Redmi Band 3 is available in China for 159 yuan (around $22) in black and beige color options. It is still uncertain whether this device will be released globally, but given that the previous version was available internationally, there is a good chance the Redmi Band 3 will eventually reach other markets.
