Philips Projection has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for the Screeneo UL5 Smart projector. This ultra-short throw projector is available at a discounted price on Indiegogo, with over $900,000 already pledged. The campaign will conclude within a week, and the projector is being offered at $789.
The Screeneo UL5 Smart is the follow-up to the Philips Screeneo U5, which was released in 2022. The new model is an advanced RGB laser projector featuring a triple RGB system capable of projecting a 100-inch image from just 20 inches away. This model is Philips's smallest and most advanced ultra-short throw projector to date, designed to offer a more immersive experience than traditional TVs at a budget-friendly price.
Compact Design and Impressive Specifications
The Screeneo UL5 Smart is highly compact, measuring approximately 8 x 3.7 x 3.4 inches, and it projects a large screen from a short distance, making it ideal for small spaces such as living rooms. It boasts a maximum brightness of 550 ANSI lumens and a full HD resolution. While it does not support 4K output, its sub-$1,000 price tag makes it a highly affordable option with impressive features. It stands out as one of the leading ultra-short throw projectors currently available.
The projector operates on Philips LuminOS, allowing access to popular streaming services. It is perfect for watching movies, shows, and gaming. The device uses a DLP chip combined with a triple-laser light source to deliver vibrant colors by separating red, blue, and green. Its throw ratio is 0.23:1.
Versatile and User-Friendly
The distance between the projector and the projection surface can be adjusted without any noticeable loss in brightness or clarity. The projector also features automatic keystone correction and focus adjustment.
The Screeneo UL5 Smart has multiple ports, enabling projection from various input sources such as laptops, desktops, tablets, and gaming consoles. It can be placed on its back or flipped to stand vertically, allowing projection on different surfaces like floors or tables. The projector comes with a two-year warranty and is scheduled to start shipping in September 2024. It is currently priced at $789, down from its original price of $1,406.
