The Optoma UHZ68LV can be preordered in Europe right now. It costs €4,499 (approximately US$4,685) and is set to begin shipping on February 25. This projector features a dual-laser system and is capable of reaching a peak brightness of 5,000 ANSI lumens. Such a high brightness level makes it ideal for home use, as it can effectively light up a large screen area and help overcome poor lighting conditions in a room. According to the manufacturer, the light source is expected to last for up to 30,000 hours, translating to over ten years of use if operated for eight hours a day; this is quite optimistic for typical home usage.
Advanced Color Features
Optoma asserts that this projector can cover 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Its PureEngine Ultra technology is intended to enhance color accuracy, providing rich blacks and vivid colors. While the UHZ68LV can achieve 4K resolution, it seems to utilize pixel shifting instead of true native 4K. This is noticeable because the highest refresh rate of 240 Hz can only be obtained at Full HD resolution. The projector’s optical zoom allows for an adjustable throw ratio from 1.2 to 1.92, enabling projection sizes that range from 80 to 300 inches. It also supports lens shift and 3D viewing. However, it lacks smart features, which means you will need an external player, like a streaming stick, for regular use. You can even install the UHZ68LV in portrait mode.
