Several reports suggest Qualcomm will introduce the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip in October this year. MediaTek might also announce its flagship Dimensity 9400 in the same timeframe. A recent Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station provides insights into the first phones featuring these new chipsets, expected to debut in October.
Oppo Find X8, Vivo X200, Xiaomi 15 Launch Rumors
According to Digital Chat Station, several flagship smartphones are slated for an October launch, equipped with next-gen chipsets and 1.5K resolution displays. The tipster noted that these phones will not be excessively large, implying he may be referring to the standard models rather than the "Pro" variants of upcoming flagship series from different brands.
Two of these devices are expected to feature the Dimensity 9400 chipset, while one will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Emojis in the post hint that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 device could be the Xiaomi 15. Additionally, other emojis indicate that the Vivo X200 and Oppo Find X8, both sporting the Dimensity 9400, are also set for an October release. The leak also mentions that the Vivo X200 and Oppo Find X8 will include a periscope telephoto camera, which will be absent on the Xiaomi 15.
Upcoming Flagship Variants
The Xiaomi 15 might be launched alongside a larger Xiaomi 15 Pro, which will also be powered by the SD8G4 chip. Similarly, the X200 Pro with the D9400 SoC could debut together with the X200.
It remains unclear whether the Find X8 Ultra will also be released in October. There is speculation that the Ultra variant, which will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset and satellite connectivity support, may be unveiled by early 2025 in China.
Additional Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Devices
Moreover, reports suggest that other Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 devices, such as the OnePlus 13 Pro, iQOO 13 series, Redmi K80 Pro, and Realme GT 6 Pro, are currently in development. These devices are anticipated to launch before the end of 2024.
