Recent reports hint at a potential pause in the launch of new foldable phones by some Chinese brands this year. Speculations suggest that one of these brands might be Oppo, not necessarily due to poor sales, but due to the high costs linked to repairing these devices. However, Oppo has officially stated to GSMArena that it will indeed continue with its plans to introduce new foldable phones.
Oppo's Commitment to Foldable Technology
An Oppo spokesperson mentioned, “Oppo’s dedication to the continuous development of foldable smartphone technology remains unchanged. Please stay tuned for our official updates and announcements.”
OnePlus Open and Oppo Find N3
In the previous year, OnePlus entered the foldable phone market with the OnePlus Open, which was launched in regions like the US, Europe, and India. Interestingly, the same device was rebranded as the Oppo Find N3 in markets such as China. Also, in 2023, Oppo unveiled the Find N3 Flip, a vertically foldable phone.
Future Launches by Oppo
With Oppo confirming its commitment to releasing new foldables, enthusiasts can anticipate the launch of the Oppo Find N4, N4 Flip, and the OnePlus Open 2.
At the onset of this year, Oppo introduced the Find X7 and Find X7 Ultra in China. There are speculations that the brand might reveal a two-way satellite connectivity version of the X7 Ultra in China by March. Additionally, Oppo is rumored to be working on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3-powered Oppo K12 and the Reno 12 series for the Chinese market. For India, Oppo has announced the launch of the Oppo F25 Pro 5G on Feb. 29, following the debut of the Reno 11 series in January.
