At the BOE Global Innovation Partner Conference 2024, the Chinese display company BOE revealed plans to launch its second-generation “Oriental Screen” in October. OnePlus will be the first brand to feature this new display, known as the BOE X2 screen, in its upcoming model, the OnePlus 13.
OnePlus 13 to Debut with BOE X2 Screen
Li Jie, the President of OnePlus China, confirmed this collaboration on Weibo, expressing enthusiasm about the partnership with BOE. He highlighted that this alliance aims to elevate display quality in the industry, focusing on high-brightness performance and eye-care features.
The previous model, the OnePlus 12, introduced the first-generation BOE X1 Oriental Screen, marking the initial collaboration between OnePlus and BOE. This screen was the first 2K display made in China to receive a DisplayMate A+ rating and is still considered one of the top displays in the market.
Display Design and Features
Rumors and leaks suggest that the BOE X2 screen on the OnePlus 13 will have a flat design with a micro-curvature on all four edges. This design aims to combine the strengths of both flat and curved screens, offering visual consistency and edge protection while retaining the aesthetic and comfort of curved displays. The 6.8-inch 8T LTPO panel will support a 120Hz refresh rate and a 2K resolution of 3160 x 1440 pixels. It may also include an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor for security. Additionally, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra is expected to feature the same display.
According to a post by trusted leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the OnePlus 13 might become official by late October or early November. The launch is likely planned ahead of the Nov. 11 (Single’s Day) shopping festival.
Specifications and Features
Reportedly, the OnePlus 13 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset and will include a 6000mAh battery, supporting 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The rear camera setup will feature a 50-megapixel LYT-808 primary camera with OIS, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel IMX882 3x telephoto periscope lens. Additional features will include a 0916T haptic motor, and the device will have IP68/69 dust and water resistance.
