Nothing has finally rolled out the long-awaited Nothing OS 2.6 update for its Nothing Phone (2a), a mid-range smartphone. This update, marked by firmware version U2.6-240828-1906-IND, introduces a variety of new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.

New Features

  • The News Reporter Widget has been introduced, allowing Tim, Nothing’s CFO, to read daily news stories aloud. Note: This feature is in beta and utilizes generative AI models, which may occasionally act unpredictably.
  • Battery and Pedometer Widgets are now available on the lock screen and Always On Display.
  • The Date Widget now automatically updates, a setting that can be enabled in Settings.
  • Swipe down on incoming notifications to access the Pop-up view, facilitating easy information access without leaving an app. Activate this feature via Settings > System > Pop-up view.
  • Added functionality to delete wallpaper history in Wallpaper Studio.
  • Charging Assistant now includes notifications to inform users about charging status.
