Seiko and FTC Join Forces Once More
Seiko’s newest partnership with San Francisco’s beloved skate shop FTC has birthed a duo of limited-run 5 Sports timepieces, slated for a July 2026 debut. This collaboration nods to FTC’s 40th anniversary—the label started back in 1986, when founder Kent Uyehara peddled skate gear out of his father’s ski and sports store on Bush Street. FTC, short for “For The City,” has since evolved into a heavyweight in skateboarding circles, earning respect across the globe.
Technical Specifications and Design Details
Both watches are anchored on the SKX-series platform within the 5 Sports collection. The HDB011J8 flaunts a black dial paired with a two-tone silver and gold-tone stainless steel case and bracelet, while the HDB012J8 opts for a burnt orange dial set in an all-gold-tone case and bracelet. Every model measures 42.5 mm in diameter, with a 13.4 mm thickness and a 46 mm lug-to-lug span. Power comes from the 4R36 automatic calibre, which supports manual winding, a 41-hour power reserve, and 24 jewels. Additional features include a Hardlex crystal, LumiBrite coating on the hands and indices, a unidirectional rotating bezel, 10 bar water resistance, plus a see-through screw case back engraved with FTC logos.
Production quantities are quite limited—the HDB011J8 is capped at 860 pieces globally, with 310 allocated for Japan, whereas the HDB012J8 is restricted to 663 units, including just 113 for Japan. Both models are offered solely in Japan and the United States.
