Many months have gone by since Hori launched the Horipad, also known as the 'HORIPAD for Steam'. During this time, several competitors like GameSir, 8BitDo, and even Anbernic have come out with their own wireless controllers. Out of the blue, Hori has made its much-anticipated wireless controller available worldwide, having previously released it in Japan at the end of last month.
Innovations in Design
The Horipad features several new ideas compared to standard wireless controllers. For example, Hori has added custom joysticks equipped with built-in touch sensors that can detect capacitance. Additionally, users can toggle between analog and digital trigger settings on the Horipad, giving them more control.
Features and Modes
Furthermore, this controller includes a gyroscope, but it's only functional in Steam Mode. Just to clarify, the Horipad can operate in both wired and wireless settings; however, it does not support a 2.4 GHz wireless option. Right now, Hori is offering the Horipad on Amazon for $59.99, available in a single blue color. As it stands, pre-orders are expected to start shipping on December 16.
