MSI Launches 27-Inch QD-OLED Gaming Monitors with 500Hz Refresh Rate

Shortly after MSI introduced the MPG 325CQRXF gaming monitor, the Taiwanese brand has revealed two fresh gaming monitors just before CES 2025 – the MPG 272URX QD-OLED and the MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50. These monitors aim at various groups of gaming fans, each boasting advanced QD-OLED panels with unique advantages. To clarify, QD-OLED technology merges quantum dots with OLED for enhanced color accuracy, brightness, and contrast.

MPG 272URX QD-OLED Features

The MPG 272URX QD-OLED is a 27-inch 4K display (3840 x 2160) crafted for ultra-detailed images. It features a refresh rate of 240Hz and a 0.03ms (GtG) response time. The QD-OLED panel provides 99% DCI-P3 and 133% sRGB color coverage, ensuring bright and realistic visuals. It also supports VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 for improved HDR performance and can reach a peak brightness of 1000 nits (10% APL).

For connectivity, it comes with two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 2.1, and USB-C capable of 90W power delivery, making it adaptable for multiple device setups. The monitor includes MSI’s OLED Care 2.0 to reduce the chance of burn-in and is backed by a three-year warranty addressing OLED-specific issues. Additionally, the DisplayPort 2.1 can handle 80Gbps bandwidth, enabling 4K 240Hz gaming without compression.

MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50 Performance

On the other hand, the MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50 elevates gaming experience with an impressive 500Hz refresh rate, also featuring the ultra-fast 0.03ms (GtG) response time. This 27-inch WQHD (2560 x 1440) monitor is designed for esports fans who value speed and reactivity more than resolution. Its QD-OLED panel provides 99% DCI-P3 and 139% sRGB color coverage.

The MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50 holds VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification for outstanding contrast and deep blacks. It also boasts a ClearMR 21000 certification to tackle motion blur problems. This model also has MSI’s OLED Care 2.0 for protection against image retention and supports the same 80Gbps DisplayPort 2.1 for lossless gaming at its peak refresh rate.

Design and Availability

Both monitors are designed with ergonomics in mind, offering adjustments for height, tilt, swivel, and pivot, making them suitable for lengthy gaming sessions. Unfortunately, at the time of this writing, MSI has not shared any information regarding pricing or availability.
