Meta to Launch Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses with AI Functionality
According to sources, Meta will soon be launching the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. These new smart glasses from Meta are equipped with AI functionality. Meta, the owner of Facebook, recently announced that select users in the US will have the ability to activate the "Hey Meta" virtual assistant on their glasses. This virtual assistant will utilize the glasses' camera and microphones to analyze and provide feedback on objects within the user's field of vision.
AI Functionality Demonstrated by Mark Zuckerberg
In a video posted on Instagram, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated the AI capabilities of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. The device was shown to be undergoing testing with multimodal AI technology. This technology allows the glasses to not only see but also hear. The impressive AI performance of the glasses was showcased in an Instagram Reel video. Zuckerberg mentioned that "Hey Meta" can even provide recommendations on what to wear by describing what it sees and highlighting important details. The testing phase of Meta's AI in the Ray-Ban smart glasses will be launched through an opt-in early access program in the US.
Real-Time Information and Pricing Details
Meta has also announced that it will be rolling out the ability to ask the Meta AI for real-time information to all Ray-Ban Meta devices in the US. This feature is powered in part by Bing. The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are available for purchase in Meta's online stores for $299 each. Customers can choose between two models: Meta Wayfarer and Meta Headliner. Both models come in seven color options, including matte black, glossy, shiny Jeans, and shiny Caramel. The lenses are available in clear, green, amber, blue, or brown. The clear lens option can be purchased with or without a blue light filter.
Pre-Release Version and Full-Release Optics
Meta is launching a pre-release version of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses with AI capabilities, which will be made available to select users in the US. The full-release optics are expected to be provided subsequently.
