Tecno has made waves with the introduction of its innovative tri-fold concept phone, the Phantom Ultimate 2, unveiled at the IFA technology conference in Berlin. This comes as the company gears up to launch its new foldable models, the Phantom V Fold 2 and V Flip 2.
Design and Features of the Tecno Phantom Ultimate 2
Tecno previously showcased the first-generation Phantom Ultimate concept at the IFA 2024, which featured a rollable display expanding from 6.55 inches to 7.11 inches in just 1.3 seconds. The latest iteration, the Phantom Ultimate 2, boasts a tri-foldable design that sets it apart.
The Phantom Ultimate 2 impresses with its slimness, measuring just 11mm when folded. This makes it sleeker than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is 12.1mm thick. The phone features a newly designed hinge and an ultra-thin battery cover, a mere 0.25mm thick, made from super-compressed Titan Advanced Fiber material.
Display and Durability
When folded, the phone offers a 6.48-inch display, but it transforms into a sizable 10-inch 3K OLED screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio when unfolded. It supports various folding modes such as a laptop-like mode, a media viewing mode, and a tent mode, suitable for tasks like real-time translation. The hinges have been rigorously tested for durability, enduring up to 300,000 folds.
Software and Camera Details
Tecno has fine-tuned the Phantom Ultimate 2’s software to enable seamless multitasking across three vertical windows, along with dynamic wallpapers that adapt to different folding states. The device also comes with a triple camera setup on the back, enhancing its photography capabilities. When fully expanded, the tri-foldable phone presents a complete, expansive display.
Concept phones like the Phantom Ultimate 2 are designed to display advanced technologies and designs that may not yet be available in commercial products. These devices often serve as a glimpse into the future of mobile technology, but they are not generally intended for commercial sale, making them unlikely to hit the market.
