Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design: Stunning OLED Display Unveiled

Huawei has unveiled several premium smartphones today. Among the most costly is the Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design, priced at CNY 11,999 (~$1,655), which is just CNY 1,000 (~$138) less than the foldable Mate X6. This model is also CNY 3,500 (~$483) pricier than the Mate 70 Pro Plus.

A Closer Look at Features

At first sight, not much separates the Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design from its counterpart. Both smartphones share a 5,700 mAh battery capable of fast charging at 80 W wirelessly and 100 W through a wired connection. Furthermore, the Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design is equipped with a triple camera setup, even though the large octagonal camera housing with four apertures might imply otherwise.

Display and Durability

The Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design boasts a dual OLED display, similar to what’s seen in the MatePad Pro 12.2 and the Apple iPad Pro 13 (currently priced at $1,099 on Amazon). Keeping the same 6.9-inch screen size, it offers a variable refresh rate between 1-120 Hz and a resolution of 2,832 x 1,316 pixels, along with an impressive peak brightness of 3,500 nits—1,000 nits higher than its predecessor.

Additionally, Huawei has incorporated basalt-tempered Kunlun Glass, which is claimed to be more resistant to scratches and drops than the Kunlun Glass 2 used in the Mate 70 Pro Plus. The design of the Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design is flashier, making it 24 to 30 grams heavier than the Mate 70 Pro Plus. Like the other models in the Mate 70 range, it is still uncertain if Huawei will release the Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design internationally.
