Garmin Beta Update: New Features & Bug Fixes for Forerunner

The Garmin Forerunner 165, Forerunner 265, and Forerunner 965 smartwatches have a new beta update available: version 21.18. This update comes just a short time after the last one, version 21.16, which addressed bugs related to sleep tracking and heart rate information.

New Features and Fixes

According to the change log for beta version 21.18, the Garmin Coach strength training plans, also called the Garmin Strength Coach, are now included in these devices. This feature was introduced earlier this year and was recently added to the Venu 3 and vivoactive 5 smartwatches. Additionally, the new software fixes an issue that triathletes faced, where their profiles were mistakenly displayed as running profiles. It also corrects a bug that caused users to go back to the previous page when checking the weather. Moreover, a problem where sleep mode would turn back on after being manually disabled has been resolved.

Release Candidate Status

Garmin has announced that beta version 21.18 is a Release Candidate, indicating that they plan to release a stable version of this software to all users soon. A Garmin representative mentioned in a forum post that at least 50% of the users with Forerunner 165, Forerunner 265, and Forerunner 965 smartwatches who are part of the beta program can now access the update. Users can start the installation from the System settings under Software Update.

Pricing Information

If you're interested in purchasing the Garmin Forerunner 165 smartwatch, it is currently priced at $199.99 on Amazon.
