Fujifilm has unveiled the GFX100S II medium format camera, which will be available from June 16th. This camera features the impressive “GFX 102MP CMOS II” sensor, delivering 102 million effective pixels, coupled with the high-speed “X-Processor 5” image processing engine. The GFX100S II is priced at 36,500 yuan (approximately $5,430 USD).
Lightweight Design and Specifications
The GFX100S II is the most lightweight model in the GFX series, weighing just 802 grams. It has a G-mount and offers a compact and lightweight design, standing about 104mm tall and 87mm wide. Without the battery or memory card, it weighs around 802 grams, making it the lightest in its series.
The camera is equipped with a 43.8mm×32.9mm GFX 102MP CMOS II sensor with a primary color filter, capturing 102 million effective pixels. This high-resolution sensor is paired with the X-Processor 5 image-processing engine, ensuring top-notch image quality and performance. The ISO sensitivity ranges from 80-12800, expandable to 40-102400, suitable for various lighting conditions.
Advanced Features and Performance
The GFX100S II includes an AI-intelligent subject tracking and focus system for precise and sharp results. It features a high-resolution 5.76 million pixel electronic viewfinder (EVF) with 0.84x magnification for composing and reviewing shots. Photographers can choose from 20 film simulation modes for creative expression. The camera offers a continuous shooting speed of 7.0 fps to capture fast-moving subjects. Additionally, it has an 8.0-stop five-axis image stabilization system to reduce camera shake and ensure clear images.
Video Capabilities and Connectivity
For videographers, the GFX100S II supports 4K / 30P 4:2:2 10bit recording capabilities. It also accommodates ProResRaw and BRaw formats for professional editing workflows. The camera supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards, compatible with UHS-I and UHS-II standards for storage.
The GFX100S II is powered by an NP-W235 Lithium Battery and includes wireless connectivity options such as Bluetooth 4.2 low energy and Wi-Fi 6. For wired connections, it features a Type-C (USB 3.2 Gen2x1) port and an HDMI output. Designed to endure challenging environments, the GFX100S II is dust-and-splashproof. The camera body also showcases a “BISHAMON-TEX” skin texture for a secure and comfortable grip.
