DJI has recently hinted at the expected launch date for its upcoming microphone. The new Mic Mini isn't quite ready for release, but Igor Bogdanov managed to capture an unboxing video of a retail unit, which he compared to the current Mic 2.
Size and Weight Comparison
The image above indicates that the Mic Mini is roughly half the size of the Mic 2, aligning with the speculation that it weighs about 10 g. Interestingly, even with its small size, the Mic Mini is anticipated to deliver up to 10 hours of battery life when connected via Bluetooth. DJI has also reduced the size of its charging case and transmitter accessories, although not to the same degree as the microphone itself.
Pricing Expectations
For context, the Mic Mini is set to launch less than a year after the Mic 2, which is currently priced at $99 on Amazon. It's important to note that the Mic Mini is expected to be significantly less expensive than the Mic 2. Current estimates suggest that the Mic Mini will be 40% cheaper when bought individually. Likewise, if you get the Mic Mini along with the charging case and transmitter, the total cost should be around 50% lower than the similar package for the Mic 2.
