Remasters are super popular right now, and even some games that still look good, like Horizon Zero Dawn, are getting remade. This time, though, the focus is on a classic game that could really benefit from a visual upgrade: Dark Souls 3. Industry insider Shpeshal Nick has mentioned that sources are saying this beloved title is currently being refreshed.
Exciting Upgrades on the Way
Nick hasn't shared too many specifics, but he did reveal that the Dark Souls 3 remaster will operate at "a little bit more" than 60 FPS, making it the first in the Souls series to achieve this. When you add in better graphics, bug fixes, and a new engine, it seems like it will be a big hit with gamers. The original Dark Souls got a remaster back in 2018, so the upcoming Dark Souls 3 remaster isn't really a shock.
New Fans Welcome!
When Dark Souls 3 first came out in 2016, the genre was somewhat niche. However, players who experienced Elden Ring as their first FromSoftware game will likely be eager to try the remaster of Dark Souls 3. Currently, there’s no information about who will handle the development of this port, but if the Demon's Souls remake is any indication, it’s probable that FromSoftware will team up with Bluepoint Games again.
Where's Bloodborne?
One has to question why Bloodborne, which was launched a year prior to Dark Souls 3, isn’t being remastered as well. It’s possible that Sony, who owns the rights, is saving it for a slow quarter or even as a launch title for the PlayStation 6. For now, we just have to sit tight and see what happens next.
