Samsung’s The Frame smart TV (approximately $1,598 on Amazon) merges the appearance of a picture frame with a television, allowing it to showcase artwork on the wall while in standby mode, instead of just being a large black screen like many smart TVs. However, The Frame has always been merely an average performer, particularly in terms of specifications.
Improvements with The Frame Pro
This is exactly what The Frame Pro intends to enhance: Samsung is finally introducing mini-LED lighting to this lineup. However, these mini-LEDs are situated only along the bottom edge, unlike Samsung’s Neo QLED Smart TVs, where they are placed behind the entire screen. Consequently, The Frame Pro is expected to have significantly fewer dimming zones compared to a standard mini-LED TV. Nonetheless, the brightness and contrast will still gain advantages from the mini-LED technology.
New Features for Enhanced Experience
The new model will come with a boosted refresh rate of 144 Hz and a wireless One Connect Box. Users can link devices like a PlayStation 5 to this box through HDMI, allowing them to stream the video feed wirelessly to The Frame Pro. This means they only need to connect a power cable to the TV itself. The box should function effectively from as far as 10 metres (32.8 feet) away, even with obstacles present.
Smart Remote with AI Capabilities
The Frame Pro’s remote includes a special AI button that enables users to gather various information, like identifying actors on screen at the moment and finding out where a scene was filmed. Samsung Launches 4,000 Nits QD OLED TVs, Rollable Displays, and Foldables
Samsung has revealed a variety of exciting OLED screens ahead of CES, kicking off with a new QD OLED display for the upcoming smart TVs. This display is expected to achieve over 4,000 nits of peak HDR brightness, which is 30% more luminous than the previous year’s model.
Sizes and Specifications
So far, this panel has been shown in a size of 77 inches, but there are whispers of additional sizes like 55 inches, 65 inches, and 83 inches. The largest model is entirely new because last year’s QD OLED maxed out at 77 inches. Moreover, it appears that these latest QD OLED panels will also be available in popular monitor sizes: 27-, 31.5-, 34-, and 49 inches. Samsung asserts that the new monitor screens will provide the highest pixel density among all OLED monitors, with the 27 and 31.5-inch variants anticipated to achieve at least full 4K resolution.

Meanwhile, Samsung Display has introduced three innovative roll-out OLED screens. The "Slidable Flex Duet" was specifically designed for vehicle dashboards, allowing the display to stretch from 8.1 inches to 12.4 inches. Gigabyte Launches 500Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor for Gamers
Gigabyte has announced two new QD-OLED gaming monitors ahead of CES 2025: the Aorus FO27Q5P and the MO27U2. Both monitors are made for gamers, but they have different specifications to cater to various types of users.
Focused on Esports
The Aorus FO27Q5P is aimed at professional esports players and fans of FPS games. It features a 26.5-inch QD-OLED display with a refresh rate of 500 Hz, believed to use the same 1440p resolution panel found in the Samsung Odyssey G60SF. Additionally, this monitor has DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 technology that supports bandwidths of up to 80 Gbps. Gigabyte is hopeful that this monitor will receive the newly introduced ClearMR 21000 certification. The first model to achieve this certification was the LG 27GX790A, which is currently priced at $906.49 on Amazon. It’s also anticipated that the FO27Q5P will be VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified.
Aimed at Creative Gamers
On the other hand, the Gigabyte MO27U2 is crafted for hybrid gamers who also engage in creative work or content streaming. Currently, it’s known that this monitor provides a 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160 px) with a pixel density of 166 PPI. Furthermore, it reportedly boasts delta E≤2 color accuracy and has received Pantone Validation, enhancing its appeal for creative tasks.
Both the FO27Q5P and the MO27U2 come with AI-driven OLED Care technology to help avoid burn-in issues and feature Tactical Switch 2.0, which enables quick toggling between different resolutions and screen ratios. Jmgo has revealed that the O2S Ultra 4K laser TV is set to launch at CES 2025. According to the company, this new model is touted as the smallest in the world, with dimensions of 12.3 x 11.4 x 5.5 inches (approximately 31.2 x 29.0 x 14.0 cm).

Hisense Launches Bright L9Q TriChroma Laser TV with 150-Inch Screen
Hisense has revealed its L9Q TriChroma Laser TV, set to be showcased at CES 2025 starting January 7th. This new model is a successor to the previous L9H, which came in sizes of 100 inches and 120 inches. The L9Q offers an Ambient Light Rejection (ALR) screen and is available in five different sizes: 100, 110, 120, 136, and 150 inches.

Hisense claims that the L9Q has several upgrades compared to the L9H. Notably, the TriChroma triple laser light source can produce up to 5,000 ANSI lumens, which is 2,000 ANSI lumens brighter than its predecessor. The BT.2020 color space coverage has also improved from 107% to 110%. Additional specifications of the DLP projector include a 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160), a contrast ratio of 5,000:1, and a throw ratio of 0.18:1. Users can adjust the image using features like auto screen alignment and manual keystone correction.

Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM Launches with 80 Gbps DisplayPort
The upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is set to take place from January 7 to January 10 in 2025. Many tech firms usually unveil their newest products at this event. However, Asus has already begun to tease the ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM since early December.
Details on the PG27UCDM
Asus has now provided complete specifications for the PG27UCDM, which utilizes the same panel found in the MSI MPG 272URX QD-OLED and the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF, both of which were also announced today. This new monitor is essentially a compact version of last year’s ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM, currently priced at $1,199 on Amazon. The PG27UCDM features a Gen 4 QD-OLED panel that enhances text clarity with a pixel density of 166 PPI.
Features and Performance
Additionally, Asus asserts that this monitor experiences 20% less flicker compared to Gen 3 QD-OLED panels. The maximum SDR brightness is still capped at 250 nits. The ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM boasts an impressive 0.03 ms GtG response time and supports both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-SYNC to reduce screen tearing. The monitor now includes a DisplayPort 2.1a connection that offers a peak bandwidth of 80 Gbps (UHBR20).
Connectivity and Power
This means the ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM can achieve 4K resolution at 240 Hz without needing Display Stream Compression (DSC), provided it is paired with a compatible GPU. However, it’s worth noting that neither AMD nor Nvidia has yet released a consumer graphics card that supports DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20. Additionally, the monitor features HDMI 2.1, USB Type-A, and USB Type-C ports, with the USB Type-C capable of charging devices at up to 90 W.
Asus has yet to announce the pricing or release date for the PG27UCDM. Unfortunately, previous product launches suggest that this information may not be revealed during CES 2025 either. Still, some independent reviews are available below.
