  • Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Rumored to Feature Next-Gen Gorilla Glass

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Rumored to Feature Next-Gen Gorilla Glass

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra features Gorilla Glass Armor 2, offering strong resistance to scratches and impacts while reducing reflections.
    2. The upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra will utilize next-gen Gorilla Glass with enhanced features, including Colour Filter on Encapsulation (COE) technology for a thinner, more energy-efficient display.
    3. The new glass will be tougher and more scratch-resistant than previous versions.
    4. Samsung’s Privacy Display feature will narrow viewing angles, preventing others from seeing the screen when activated.
    5. The Galaxy S26 Ultra may make traditional screen protectors unnecessary, but the market for them could still remain strong due to user preferences.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, with a starting price of around $1,050 on Amazon, is built with Gorilla Glass Armor 2. This top-notch display cover not only provides outstanding resistance against scratches and impacts but also significantly minimizes reflections from surrounding light. Recently, the trustworthy leaker Ice Universe has revealed that the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra will come with a next-gen Gorilla Glass.

    Enhancements in the New Glass

This innovative glass is said to bring enhancements in three main aspects. Firstly, the Colour Filter on Encapsulation (COE) technology does away with the need for an external polariser. This leads to a thinner display that is more energy-efficient and even less reflective. Secondly, the surface of the glass is tougher, making it more resistant to scratches. Lastly, this new glass will support Samsung’s upcoming Privacy Display feature. As indicated in a previously leaked animation, when this mode is activated, the viewing angles of the display are greatly narrowed, which prevents onlookers from seeing the screen from the sides.

    Future of Screen Protectors

Ice Universe has also hinted that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra might render all types of screen protectors unnecessary. With the ultra scratch-resistant glass, there would be no need for extra protection, and matte or privacy screen protectors might not be required due to the lower reflectivity and the anticipated privacy feature. However, the market for screen protectors might still thrive, as many users are expected to keep buying them for their high-end flagship smartphones, despite these advancements.

    5. The camera system boasts a 50 MP main sensor and a robust 8,000 mAh battery with 80 W SuperVOOC fast charging, available in China starting at 2,599 yuan ($373).

Realme has recently launched the Realme Neo8 in China. Unlike its predecessors in the Neo series, which generally target the mid-to-high-end market, the Neo8 enters the premium segment with the innovative Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform and a high-capacity silicon–carbon battery.

    Design and Build Quality

The Realme Neo8 showcases a transparent back design that includes RGB lighting features, and it will be available in three color variants: Cyber Purple, Origin White, and Mecha Gray. As stated by the company, the rear panel employs a multi-layer 3D partitioning technique that creates various texture depths for light-refraction effects. An RGB “Awakening Halo” lighting strip is built into the back and can be customized for notifications, music playing, and gaming effects.

Additionally, the Neo8 sports a metal frame with a glass back, complemented by slim, symmetrical bezels and rounded corners. Impressively, the device holds IP66, IP68, and IP69 certifications, making it resistant to dust and capable of withstanding high-pressure and high-temperature water exposure—something rare among consumer smartphones.

    Display Features

The Neo8 is equipped with a 6.78-inch Samsung M14 LTPS OLED display that is tailor-made for this phone. The screen boasts a touch sampling rate of 3,800Hz and a native refresh rate of 165 Hz. Realme asserts that this configuration lowers power usage compared to standard 144 Hz displays, thanks to the efficiency of the M14 luminescent material. The display reaches a peak brightness of 1,000 nits and a local peak brightness of 6,500 nits, achieving up to 103% P3 color gamut coverage at elevated brightness levels. To ensure durability, the display is shielded by Crystal Armor Glass, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is embedded beneath the screen.

    Performance and Gaming Features

At its core, the Neo8 operates on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile platform, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. To address the thermal needs of the new chipset, Realme has introduced a high-airflow cooling system alongside a special GT Performance Engine that aims to enhance frame-rate stability during gaming.

For power users, the Geek Performance Panel is a significant feature. This interface provides options to manually adjust CPU and GPU frequencies and includes five distinct temperature control levels, offering a level of hardware control usually found in rooted devices.

Realme is advertising the Neo8 as a hybrid gaming device. It features a PC Handheld Mode that supposedly enables the local running of verified PC games. The company claims that over 50 titles are supported, with cross-platform compatibility allowing for PC account logins and cloud-save synchronization for officially licensed games.

The device is also equipped with AI Expert Assistance, which delivers contextual in-game help, such as automatic item pickups in open-world games and cooldown tracking for skills in MOBA titles.

    Camera and Battery Specifications

The camera system is led by a 50 MP Sony IMX896 main sensor (1/1.56″) with OIS and an f/1.8 aperture. Additionally, a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera based on the Samsung JN5 sensor offers 3.5× optical zoom, 7× lossless zoom, and digital zoom up to 120×, supported by AI-based text recognition and perspective correction. An 8 MP ultra-wide camera rounds out the rear configuration, while the front houses a 16 MP selfie camera.

One impressive feature of the Neo8 is its robust 8,000 mAh battery. By using a 16% silicon-content anode, Realme claims to have improved energy density by 3% over past models, allowing this large battery to fit within an 8.3 mm thick chassis. The phone supports 80 W SuperVOOC fast charging and bypass charging, which allows it to draw power directly from the charger during gaming, helping to minimize battery heat buildup.

    Availability and Pricing

Currently, the Realme Neo8 is exclusively available in the Chinese market, with the base model of 12 GB + 256 GB starting at 2,599 yuan (about $373). The high-end 16 GB + 1 TB model is priced at 3,899 yuan (approximately $559). Realme has not disclosed any intentions for a global launch under the Neo or GT Neo branding.

    Key Takeaways

    1. The upcoming iPhone Fold may feature a “crease-less” display and possibly reintroduce Touch ID on the side.
    2. Early dummy models show a compact, square-like design with a 5.3-inch cover display and dimensions shorter than the iPhone 13 Mini.
    3. When unfolded, the device could have a larger 7.8-inch flexible display similar to the Huawei Pura X.
    4. It is expected to include dual 48 MP rear cameras and two 18 MP front-facing cameras integrated into the displays.
    5. A compact successor to the iPhone Mini may be released around September this year, following the iPhone Fold’s launch.

In the last few months, there’s been much buzz surrounding certain features of the upcoming iPhone Fold. Notably, its display is rumored to be “crease-less,” and it might bring back Touch ID on the side instead of using Face ID for unlocking. The design of Apple’s first foldable is also quite unique. A recent leak from an analyst reveals that it will come with dual 48 MP rear cameras and two 18 MP front-facing cameras, which will be integrated into the two displays.

    Early Models and Design

Recently, Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station shared some hands-on images of early dummy models. These are meant to give us a clearer picture of the unusual and compact shape of the anticipated Apple foldable. The information available so far suggests that when folded, the device takes on a compact, square-like shape and features a 5.3-inch cover display. The leaked CAD specifications are 120.6 x 83.8 x 9.6 mm, which makes it shorter in height than Apple’s previous mini model, the iPhone 13 Mini, but slightly thicker and wider.

    Display and Camera Features

When you open the foldable phone, which may be called iPhone Fold, you will notice its significantly larger 7.8-inch flexible display. This display’s format is quite similar to that of the wider Huawei Pura X. The dummy images also highlight a camera module that resembles the one on the iPhone Air, but with a dual camera setup rather than a single one. It remains uncertain if the dummy design, based on the leaked CAD drawings, is accurate, as only Apple management can confirm that. However, there’s a strong possibility that fans of the iPhone Mini will see a similarly compact yet pricier successor released around September this year.

Though the laptop and tablet dock features have been removed from the final design, the main idea stays intact. The NexPhone is designed to serve as both a smartphone and a desktop computer.

    Dual Functionality

In more detail, the NexPhone functions as an Android smartphone for mobile use, but it can also switch to Windows 11 with a simple restart.
