Xiaomi 20,000mAh Compact Power Bank Now in Space Blue Color

Xiaomi introduced a 20,000mAh power bank with a built-in cable earlier in April this year. Initially, it was available only in a light brown color. Now, the deep space blue variant has been launched and is priced at 159 Yuan (~$22).

  • Qualcomm Sues Transsion, Maker of Infinix, Tecno, and itel

Qualcomm Sues Transsion, Maker of Infinix, Tecno, and itel

In an unexpected development, Qualcomm has initiated legal action against Transsion, the fourth-largest smartphone maker globally, citing alleged infringements on four of its patents.

According to IP Fray on LinkedIn, the lawsuit concerns four unspecified non-standard essential patents owned by Qualcomm. What makes this situation particularly unique is that Transsion does not incorporate Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors in any of its current smartphone models.

    A Different Approach

Qualcomm usually uses its significant influence in the mobile chip industry to negotiate licensing agreements when its patents are breached. However, this approach isn’t applicable to Transsion, which primarily uses processors from MediaTek and Unisoc, as reported by WinFuture.

Despite not utilizing Qualcomm’s chips, Transsion boasts popular brands such as Tecno, Itel, and Infinix. These brands focus on the budget and mid-range smartphone markets, a strategy that has led Transsion to become the fourth-largest smartphone manufacturer globally, following Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi, according to Statista.

    Potential Impact

This rapid growth seems to have attracted Qualcomm’s scrutiny, resulting in this lawsuit over unspecified “non-standard essential patents.” The lawsuit’s outcome is still uncertain, but it could compel Transsion to pay licensing fees, which might significantly affect their already thin profit margins on budget devices.

Qualcomm’s new lawsuit comes amid pressure from other major tech companies. The Financial Times reports that Philips has also sued Transsion, while Nokia is seeking licensing fees for its patented technologies used in Transsion’s phones.

    Ongoing Developments

Interestingly, a Transsion spokesperson stated in the Financial Times report that the company has signed a “5G standard patent license agreement” with Qualcomm and asserts that it is meeting its obligations under that agreement. This raises questions about why Qualcomm chose to file a lawsuit if that is indeed the case.

The resolution of this legal battle and its impact on Transsion remains uncertain. We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.

  • FCC Confirms Pixel 9 Will Be Larger Than Previous Model

FCC Confirms Pixel 9 Will Be Larger Than Previous Model

The latest updates on Google’s forthcoming Pixel 9 series continue to emerge. Earlier, real-life photos showcased the design of the Pixel 9 series. Now, the Pixel 9 series has secured FCC certification as well as Canada’s REL certification.

    Certification and Hardware Versions

As per the recent information shared by MySmartPrice, the hardware versions for both the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are identified as GUR25 and GEC77, respectively. These can be thought of as their model numbers.

The newly revealed certificates confirm that the Pixel 9 Pro (GEC77), Pixel 9 Pro XL (GZC4K), and Pixel 9 Pro Fold (GGH2X) come equipped with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, UWB, 5G, and thread radio connectivity.

    Dimensions and Comparisons

FCC certification details indicate that the standard Google Pixel 9 (GUR25) measures 152.8mm x 72mm. In comparison, the Pixel 8’s dimensions are 150.5mm x 70.8mm, suggesting that the Pixel 9 is slightly larger than its predecessor. While Google excels at creating compact smartphones, they are not as small as Samsung’s regular S lineup models, like the S24.

Google plans to release two Pro variants—the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL—commemorating three years since the launch of the first Pro smartphone with the Pixel 6 series in 2021.

This device is expected to succeed the Motorola Edge 40 Neo and will be part of the company’s Edge 50 series, which already includes the Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Ultra, and Edge 50 Fusion.

The leak indicates that the Moto Edge 50 Neo will be offered in two storage variants: one with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, and another with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

    Motorola Edge 40 Neo

Additionally, the leak reveals the color options for the Moto Edge 50 Neo. The phone is expected to be available in Gray, Blue, Poinciana, and Milk colors. Notably, some of these colors are said to be Pantone-certified, which has become a common practice for Motorola recently.

While further details about the device are limited at this time, it’s reasonable to assume that the Moto Edge 50 Neo will share several features with its predecessor, the Edge 40 Neo.

    Motorola Edge 40 Neo Specifications

For reference, the Edge 40 Neo sports a 6.55-inch pOLED display with a fluid 144Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7030 processor, providing mid-range performance. The phone offers up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which aligns with the leaked specifications for the Edge 50 Neo.

The Edge 40 Neo runs on Android 13 and is slated to receive two additional Android version updates, ensuring the device remains current with software updates for some time.
